Had a preview of the Topman and Topman Design ranges for winter. Topman story is all about - you guessed it - layering. Saw a nice Topman trench coat, good belt attached but thought it would look much better without the scarf.

There are also loads of narrow button-down collared shirts teamed with slim ties like this

In Topman Design there are long chunky knitted cardis, shown with fat leather belts

and enormous duffel bags in vinyl pvc, available in black and bright yellow (they'll be in store August and will be £50).

Also spotted a sort of fisherman jacket, again in bright yellow with a hood and toggles

Topman Design's manager Gordon Richardson was genuinely surprised that some people here weren't into last season - he said it sold really well and wanted to know what exactly you didn't like. So here's a chance to get heard and give some input.

The sleeves are twice as wide as the body, though!

where did they tax that idea from Laughing out loud

the trench at the top looks nice.

one thing about the short trench that i tried on this season is that it was rather boxy.

what with the material that was used, it didnt appear fluid enough.
but thats because im a fat bitch.

I think the problem is topshop have to sell sell sell, so create whats ripe for selling to the masses. While alot on here will feel its a bit cliche by the time top shop do it.e.g.slim shit and tie etc etc.

I really carnt speak for the trench as its hard to see how it really looks when its not on someone but as looks like its made of cardboard and very straight. As for the woolen ... Nicole Farhi anyone?

I remmeber seeing something 99% identical to this in the Farhi Bista sale shop over 12 monts ago. Oh and who put that brown belt and green shirt under it? Have a word.

And i am sure the yellow fisherman will sell well.

- Damn I am in a mood today Sad

Oversized cardis have been done to death as well.
Its menswear, you can only do so much with it imo.

As long as they dont go down the Thom Browne route of jack-ups then they appear to be doing a decent job of pushing the high street a little bit forward

That fishermans jacket would be well nice in wool.

Topman design = normal topman but twice the price imo

I think things like that cardi have to be top quality, or they dont work.
Call me a cynic, but I can just see it half hanging from a cheap plastic hanger in the £15.00 or less section.
The isea of the bag sounds good tho.

i think it looks quite good for a high street collection. as for the back being a rip off of visvim they arent exactly original are they most of visvims designs have been done before.

As someone said oversized cardis have been done before but not really on a high street level (burberry have them this season) i think you need a certain look to pull one off though.

People like that bag? Absolutely disgusting imo. Something a clown would carry his oversized shoes in.
