Looking to spend about £400 on a new watch guys. Any suggestion for something within that price range? Might stretch it to £500 or £550 but don't really want to go above that for this purchase. Any help is much appreciated. Looking for something quite versatile so would look good with a suit or casual/smart casual. |

Can always look for a vintage one in ebay, or a second hand Breitling etc (tho make sure its local and you see it and handle it first). The CW one is v nice, and def looks like it costs more (plus unknown brand so easy to blag), other from that... its off to Ernest Jones / Goldsmiths for you, but then you get fairly standard Seiko / Citizen etc |

Why would he spend £400 on a Seiko or Citizen? Absolute waste of money if you ask me. You can get a vintage rolex on the bay for £400ish |

I can't stand gold watches or even gold anything. It's tacky and has unpleasant connotations. Silver is much cleaner and nicer in my eyes. £500 isn't enough to buy a watch of very good quality, even a cheaper TAG model will leave you feeling like a Porsche Boxster owner who has not quite achieved 911 status. Go without, buy a nice belt. Watches are superfluous if you have a mobile phone. |

I think he needs a new watch...? If he wanted a belt, I'm sure he'd have asked for advice on buying a belt. The price doesn't always determine the quality of the watch you're buying, i.e. in the case of the Christopher Ward watch, above. If you look around their site etc, it's obvious that you're getting more watch than you're paying for. |

Take a Rolex, Cartier or Breitling vs a crappy made fashion watch by Christopher Ward? Get away. He needs a belt round the ear for even dreaming up £500 as a ballpark figure for a watch. Sure, nobody but him is going to see the watch but if you're not bothered about being 10th best then why bother with one at all? |

Take a Kilgour, Richard James or Gieves suit vs a crappy made fashion suit by Dior? Get away. |

That's just the point Dirge. It's not craply made, and looks amazing.
