If you use Quidco then chance for some cash back. Worth looking at.

Amex nectar card, got loads of points to spend in many ways the BA one is good for airmiles. Cash back is always so nominal anyways, normal £2-3 a month.

its sometimes worth looking at the companies you use as well... for instance, i got a sky credit card a while ago as it was interest free on purchases and balance transfers, but you also got points when buying shit which you could use for pay per view stuff like films or sports events... or even money off your bill

I've got a bmi one from MBNA which gives you points to use for bmi flights every time you spend on it

and if it's your first card, Capital One might be worth looking at - they gave me a card when no-one else would years ago. had a low credit limit to begin with but they kept increasing it on a regular basis when I started using the card

Same for me with Capital One. Started with them and now with Virgin. They put up my limit every other month without me even asking. Requires alot of self control!

pay rent? so you fgoing to be withdrawing money from it? unless you are using it for a purchase, you'll have to pay to take cash out on it whatever...i think Puzzled

Yeh thats exactly what I'd be doing, drawing cash out to pay my rent. This is why I need a bit of advice...I dont know how any of this works.

yeah you don't wanna do that.
unless they let you trasnfer the money into a current account and treat it as a cash purchase - thats what i did to pay off my overdraft.

some cards won't let you do it, so make sure they let you make a payment into a normal bank account before getting the card.

Egg is one of the few that let you transfer money to a bank account. Others (Virgin I think) will give you a cheque book so you could use that to pay your rent with. Best option is a loan or overdraft though.
