The advantages of BB's to serious users are mostly related to security and the use of multiple email accounts. BB's use a dedicated RIM server which means that data sent from the phone is encrypted differently to every other handset and is much more difficult to hack. As well as this the data is sent from the phone straight to RIM and then to the other handset, with other phones the data travels to the network provider for example 02 or Orange and it has many more stages for interception than the Blackberry.

surely you should be using SSL when accessing your email anyway? Or am I missing something?

the htc hero is very good and only going to get better as android (google empire) continues to take over the world.

HTCs are alright...but Windows Mobile is so f laggy, touch screen response time is not great either.

Does anyone know if Nokia is bringing out a replacement for the 8800 arte? They've discontinued it now and mine has a crack in the screen Sad

Carphone Warehouse still has the Arte in Gold or Carbon

That watch is amazing. Is it available?

Just upgraded to a S/E w995. AWESOME.

Not into Blackberry, iPhone, G2. Not fussed with all the tech. Walkman phone is really good alternative to bulky iPhone or carrying an iPod and phone around like I have been for a year.

Highly recommend!

Nokia 5800/5530 are really great, had a few of them this year, prefer them over iphone.

Have you ever owned an iPhone to make that statement?! My mates 5800 is horrible to use, the resistive touch screen is just no match for a capacitive one with Apples multitouch technology.

Will be my next phone, BlackBerry Bold 9700. Out in October/November. Can't get anything other than a BlackBerry now, every single one of my friends is on BBM and it's pretty much the only way we all communicate these days!

Review of the pre-release one here:

Yeah the 5800 screen isn't great but its been improved in the 5530, which I'm using now, and yeah had a iphone for a week. I like the symbian os more, bigger screen res etc. While it hasn't got a good app store like the iphone it does have a lot apps/games floating around on various symbian forums.

Touch is terrible on the 5800 and just the look of it makes me cringe. Nokia need to sack their design team.

there are apps now for iphone that do the same as bbm?

i have got WhatsApp which syncs with your contacts/people who have the app and an iphone. works through your data connection. can't do group chats yet though

don't really see why bbm functionality is so great though? sms on an iphone looks just like a 'chat' conversation. or do people run out of free texts?

yep. app for iphone now that does bbm.

spotify app has also hit iphone so now for 10 quid a month you can listen to literally millions of songs wherever you can get wifi. and you can also 'cache' 3,333 of your favorites for offline listening when you dont have wifi available. sounds pretty fucking awesome if you ask me but i havent looked into it 100%

What's the camera like on the 5530 compared to the crap one on the 5800? I want a mid range phone with wifi and a decent camera and the W995 and C905 are the best options at the moment
