I have never had the food incident myself but rememeber when I was about 15 my sister came in after going out with her friends and tried to cook a pie (no fatty) in the microwave put it in for half an hour, I went into the kitchen to get a drink and the whole kitchen is full of smoke, she started crying and left it up to me to navigate the smoke and unplug the microwave, needless to say parents weren't happy and microwave was fucked, it was all yellow inside.

Our fucking fire alarm drives me nuts. Managed to wake my housemate up at 4am a few weeks ago just making chips, it properly goes off all the time.
