General yay or nay question, Vans on 40 year old blokes? I'm after some cheapish summer beaters to wear with shorts for the beer garden. Never been my thing but with the end discount and the massive number of different colourwayas I thought I might give them a go. Put off slightly because my ex birds 13 year old son always wore them. I'm thinking maybe the chambrays, although I'm clueless as to which model(s) are considered the better silhouette?

adidaskev, difficult to tell as your arms are bent in both pics but yeah I reckon probably too long. From the fit around the shoulders it looks like you need to go down one size, maybe.

Wellworn - would go with converse jp over vans, and there are a few other brands that do canvas shoes and you won't be associated with kids.
