Mate you do know there are more injuries per head in League than in Union? I always thought it was a given that League is more brutal than Union - it's 80 minutes of constant running and tackling, plus you can shoulder charge in League…
played union for years and thought league was shit until recently. went to go see cook islands vs USA the other day and it wasn't that bad so I'm going to keep up with the world cup from now on. I've started playing touch rugby once a week for fun, it's laughable how serious some people take it 
I had no idea it was an actual thing but the people i play with play in a proper league and there are all these special rules….we always just played it as a warm up thing! Union is proper rugby, League is the pussy version and touch is…embarrassing.

As an international spectacle, Union's way ahead of League and League knows it. Only 3 countries play it at a high level compared to a dozen or so in Union, so I can see why someone who hasn't watched any League before has compared this WC to the 6 Nations or RUWC and thought Union's better.
Super League and the NRL dick all over anything Union can offer at club/provincial level though.
I think both are great, but the better athletes are in League and the handling skills are generally considerably higher as well.
