That just got me thinking about when Button won which you could say to non-F1 fans was the equivalent of Leicester winning the league. But you have to give Ross Brawn nearly all the credit for that one. As managers/coaches of teams go I still to this day think he deserves more recognition for what he did there. Welcome to the forum. And thanks for making your first post so long and sports related.
Thanks! Glad to be here. I will get on to chatting style as soon as possible, but I saw F1 chat and felt obliged to jump in…
I'd not thought of the Brawn/Leicester comparison before, but it's a good one. Agreed about Ross Brawn being a legend. I think he does get recognition in F1 circles, just for whatever reason not much wider than that.
Mr.X, agreed that Grand Slams are the barometer of a tennis GOAT. Still though, I think Murray's done almost enough to be considered one of the greatest British sportsmen - certainly in the top three of this generation.

His mum is annoying, she ain't Uncle Toni. The thing about the slams is that it encompasses all the surfaces. Olympics don't, Zica ruined Rio and in 2012 he had a home nation behind him as he does at Wimbledon each year.
Zica didn't stop any tennis players going. Murray still had to beat a decent opponent and grand slam winner in the final. Not his fault he knocked out Djok!
As for having a home nation behind him what utter bollocks. That never helped Tiger Tim nor has ever helped Murray. If it were such an advantage then he would have beaten Fed on the same court with the same crowd behind him just a couple weeks before the 2012 Olympic final.

We used to have an F1 thread on here. It died after a fuker called Best offered other fukers odds of 50/1 in April of Jensons year to win the Championship. I took the bet but never saw the money come season end. Welcome to fuk though and if you can be a bit more pessimistic about GB sportsmen you will fit right in

The Zica furore didn't affect the tennis. Djok crying after he went out in the first round showed how much he wanted it. The final was great and could have gone either way. Del Potro is a beast and had his vengeance on Murray a couple weeks later at Davis Cup.
Djok knows how to act. The tears weren't real. Del Petro was so tired and weak at the end of the match that his wrists clearly aren't up to best of 5 sets and with so many years out he did well but it was the Zika olympics nobody took seriously except Murray. FMI see GOLF and who won that…. Justin Rose the only guy who cared about it.
Since the lottery is funding Team GB I get the feeling other countries didn't care as much.

Your trolling is awful
US Open major Champion 2013 had to go head to head with Stenson who had just won the Open Championship before Rio but I guess Zika affected that one to?
I do know McIlroy and a couple of others didn't go but when the top players are scoring SIXTEEN and FOURTEEN under par don't tell me a fucking mosquito put them off scoring even higher.
As for Mosquitos affecting the tennis. Nadal went, Djok went, Murray went, Federer had a knee injury.
Who else went from the top 10??
Cilic, Nishikori and Monfils who all got an invite to the ATP World Tour.
So basically players that win grand slams made the final of the last two summer olympics. Not like a grand slam where someone else might make the final.
