No problem, I don't know too much about nice areas to stay or eating out here but someone else will help I'm sure.

Thats good news about UO, thats a good unit and the Academy needs a lift as its been looking pretty empty lately.

Eating out recommendations: Yatai, Cafe 52, Atheneum, Foyer, Goulash, Christos, Chef Jang, Bhan Thai, Musa are all decent.

Bar wise Atheneum, Ninety Nine and Korova are the best places.

Club wise Snafu and Origin.

Its not really the best place to live tbh, though id say Hanon's probably the best clothes shop in Scotland.

from a few people I have spoken to it would appear that it is just a stones throw from the country side in all directions, and thus some decent cycling territory?

I guess it would be, yeah.

Been meaning to get a bike for years. If you head out to the surrounding areas theres some nice scenery.

I'd say Aberdeen is pretty decent, probably the best shopping in Scotland (Although Glasgow and Edinburgh are shockingly bad for their size).

Aberdeen: Hanon, Attic, Kafka, Pure,
Glasgow: Urban Outfitters, Aspecto, Size?
Edinburgh: Xile, Goodstead, a poor Harvey Nichols
Dundee: Manifesto erm anything else? Ozzys?

Nice list PH Cool

To add to the list, Glasgow has Goodlife store. Never been but I see that it now has a Sophnet account.

Ah yes that's the one I couldn't find. They need a website quick though, no shop in Scotland can survive with that brand list unfortunately.

Been in a couple of times, small place and usually been the only customer. Ring a buzzer to get in.

Looks like its moving to a new place though.

Glasgow does have the former Commes des Garcons gorilla store (can't remember what it's called now) and Focus Pocus to add to your list and then the likes of Ralph Lauren, The Italian Centre, Replay, House of Frasers etc.

It's not bad but does need a bit more due to it's size. Was it not meant to have a Selfridges and a Harvey Nichols by now? Pretty sure I remember reading Selfridges had a location already bought in Glasgow.

Oh and I've never actually been in Goodlife before even though I walked past it every day for about two years.

I wouldn't rate any of the store mentioned there other than Ralph. I mean unusual and decent independents I suppose instead of the chains that every other city has. Manchester has Oi Polloi, Leeds has Hip, Newcastle has End, Glasgow really should have something like that IMO.

Despite having a nice, shiny new centre in the form of Union Square, theres nothing id actually want to buy in there.

I don't see why we cant get stores of the like of Size?, Foot Locker, Fopp etc that Glasgow and Edinburgh enjoy.

Shopping here really is shit.

We had a Fopp.
Size? would offer nothing new that Hanon and Attic don't have.
Is Foot Locker not just another JD-ish sports shop?

Certainly agree with Union Square tho, other than Nando's Laughing out loud
