Spent some time in there too. Was supposed to be going to the Dungeons but after a hearty Illegal Jacks lunch and a few strong beers that never happened.
Always love visiting the Christmas Markets in Edinburgh, but find it slightly frustrating that we get fuck all like that up here.

Only managed to go to the Christmas Markets once briefly this year, been too busy

This is bad news, thought Goodstead would be one of the ones to survive. Did they have a big closing sale?

Nope, was totally out of the blue. Don't think they are planning on having one either.

Just read this on Facebook. It is sad but I think this is the direction thhat many independant fashion shops are going nowadays. Purchased by first ever pair of APC's from them.

Gents,
I am (was) one of the owners of Goodstead….
To cut a long story short our rent went up and at the same time our bank decided to take our overdraft away. We decided to call it a day after that!
We'll be selling the old stock off cheap on ebay in a couple of weeks time once things get sorted out on a legal front. I'll post on here the link so you can get in about it.
Thanks for all your support, it's a pretty shit trading environment out there but hopefully someone else gets a good indie store open in Edinburgh or Glasgow soon.

Gutted. I've been in Edinburgh since April and having Goodstead a 15 minute stroll from work was top.

I will be moving to Edinburgh next month to undertake my Bachelor, any good advice about whereabouts in the city? Also looking for a part-time job, have mailed a good amount of applications out, but still no answers. Any help would be appreciated.

Are you studying at Edinburgh Uni or Napier, and do you know which buildings you'll mainly be going to?
It depends on your budget of course, but I would say the two main areas popular with students are around Nicolson Street / Clerk Street / Newington Road (actually all one road, the area is called Newington) and an area called Marchmont (more expensive). Tollcross is also fairly popular (and cheaper).
Morningside is also quite popular with students but is a bit further from the city centre - not ridiculously far though (also it's on a good bus route).
You can see bus routes
here.
Just shout if you need any more help.
