Some advice needed please chaps. I've been wearing in a pair of petit standards now for about 6 months, no washes as yet. Fades wise, would now be a good time to give them their first wash or is it better to wait as long as poss? What's the general consensus on this? Thanks

They will still fade after the first wash but it'll be a lot less. Would wait another six months unless you have a very very active lifestyle involving running marathons in raw denim.

Wait if you can.
Obviously if they are filthy then wash them. I just did the 1st wash on a pair of Samurai's after 16 months of wear and they came out nice. Made me realise how dirty they were before though Laughing out loud

OK dont flame me if this has been answered before, but, we all know you should wear raw selvedge one year at least before washing it, but can someone please explain why that first wash should be so gentle according to all the advice, I mean has anyone worn a pair of apc s for a year and then put them in the wash on a bog standard 40c wash, common sense says that this will give better fades, all answers appreciated.

It should't be too much of a problem. The fades will be stronger due to more (indigo) colour loss but I think the reasoning behind doing a gentle wash is the more diverse fades you'll get in the future of the denim.

Make sure you don't use detergents with fluorescents or bleach in them as it will make the colour last longer so it would even more hard work achieving epic fadez.
