Went to El Xiringo at La Barceloneta last year and it was fantastic.

As recommended by the FT

Best area for non-tourist boozing? And how are places about groups? Going next weekend with 10+ mates, are we going to be stuck at Irish bars etc?

Looking at Razzmatazz in Friday for instance.

Razz definitely wouldn't give a shit about 10 Brits rolling up, place is fucking huge… not much round it definitely go drinking in el gotico first, then it's maybe 20 minutes on foot or a few metro stops if it's early enough. Marsella in el raval is probably a good shout for a group if you like absinthe and queuing for one toilet with a load of cokeheads

El Born is really nice but they've got some campaign going on about late night noise pollution and may be a bit hostile to large tourist groups. Chilled afternoon drinks would be a good call though

Good info mate cheers. Expecting to split into 3's anyway as you would in any UK city. Any other suggestions welcome!

Went to Razz as part of a stag last year. Don't think they'll care but (like we did), maybe best to split the group and not all queue together.
A mate got his wallet pickpocketed outside so be careful!

Thanks guys.

Any tourist stuff for the day time worth it? Nou Camp ruled out by the non-football types and think the Beach will be a little cool in early October.

Have to pay for Guell now, fucking sucks. If you want a real cable car ride go to Montserrat, that's fucking hiiiigh.

Speaking of I'd highly recommend joining a cannabis society, and I don't really smoke anymore but shit is so good and so cheap.

So much better than dam! cant remember the name of the one we found, but it was next to an Irish pub on some main road. It was always empty, the woman used to give us a laptop to stream music/vids, had a ps3 in there, cable tv, sofas, was like having your own furnished flat that you could get blazed in. You have to pay 20 euros to join but then its about 7 euros a gram, half the price of dam.

Go up to Montjuic. The Miro gallery and National Art Museum are worth it if you're into that sort of thing.

Casa Batllo is great too and despite being buay, never feels too crowded, thanks to the one-way flow inside

For Gaudi I wouyld recommend seeing Palau Guell (just off the Rambla) and Casa Mila (known as La Pedrera).

Going first time in May with the missus and the 2yo, whats the best area to stay/avoid? Would like to stay somewhere with easy access to all the major tourist stuff and may a beach for the kid.

Theres too many on tripadvisor in terms of holiday rentals, no idea what I should be looking for in terms of area.

How long you going for? Dont do the beach in Barca. Do a day trip to Sitges (45 minutes by train) instead

I always stay in Raval cause its got loads of great bars and is right near Las Ramblas, Born and Barri Gotic (Placa Catalunya and Passeig de Gracia are walkable too).

Might want somewhere nearer Passeig de Gracia if you're with a kid though.

Yeah wouldn't like to go to the beach in Barca with a 2yr old! When i went in summer it was full of people doing a bottle on the beach and blazing.

Also the beach is quite dirty and shoko and a few other clubs back on to the beach so at night time everyone spills out on to the beach and people (women included) piss all over the beach.
