I dont mind, theres a metro link right outside, Ive stayed in the Me which was a bit of the way out too…

Anyway couple of questions for those in the know…

Club listings - is there a good website?

Also we are gonna be there during the La Merce Holiday, is this gonna be ridiculously busy or what??

Yeah it's nice round there.

From what I remember it's more of the 'old town'.

Looking to go to Barcelona w/c 31-10 with the G.F. Can somebody recommend anywhere decent (doesn't have to be five star) for around 50-60 (or cheaper) a night. Were both pretty skint at the minute but need a break.

Any recommendations would be great. Not sure about what area to stay either as ive never been.

Thanks

I'm in town the same week and haven't booked a hotel yet. Prices and availability are crazy just now. Think you'll be struggling at that price TBH mate.
Holiday Rentals and Friendly Rentals may be an option but they rarely have a safe, I'm sure you're aware break ins/muggings/pick pockets are pretty much a way of life in Barca.

Not bad deals here http://www.hotelpraktikrambla.com/en
Also if you use www.lastminute.com and find a hotel you like, sort by distance to a landmark (or several to make sure) and you can figure out what the "top secret hotel" is and you can grab a bargain. Just got a 5* for the Saturday night for £60 Laughing out loud

never been the 'victim of crime' in Barca - like anywhere if you act like a tourist or try to score coke then you increase the risk but there are so many knobheads there anyone acting like they are half way savvy should be fine. It isn't cheap and cheap accomodation will be shit. A 1 or 2 star in Spain is the equivalent of a squat in the UK in my experience. Don't buy your flight before you book a room, if theres a convention in town you will be fucked.

I'd disagree. I know loads of people that have been done in Barca. I went to Sonar with 12 mates and about 8 got done, Also know someone who got done and on the way back to the hotel got done again and had to explain they had no possessions left Laughing out loud

Your mates must have been walking through Raval at 4 in there morning pissed up with their wallets out. Don't know any one who's been done there, apart from farrell

And Las Ramblas is nasty too, give it a token touristy look during the day but that's all you need.

Eixample = luxury shopping + architecture

Nice areas:

el Born / gotico = cooler areas, nice food, shops etc
Barceloneta = a taste of old Barcelona and faces the sea / main beach, has really nice local bakeries etc

I guarantee if you drew a line along the path your mates took, it would literally be a near full ring around those areas! The promenade up to the casinos and ramblas aren't so great late.

I stayed at Hotel Jazz when I was there last month. Great location, rooftop pool and pretty reasonable iirc.
