Ignoring my idiotic posts above about airport to hotel travel I'm in Berlin on wednesday and I just wanted to post here and ask if anyone has anything they reckon is unmissable? I mean aside from the obvious, I know its vague any great restaurants/cafes/bars or things that will be on between wednesday and friday? I'm going to be doing a lot of research in the next week so I hope no one presumes i'm asking to be spoon fed, but I know some people on here will have a couple of good recommendations.

Just got back and if anyone is heading there can recommend Cafe Jacques for real good food, very small and welcoming restaurant, and Das Hotel for drinks in the same vein (both around Kreuzberg). Both really nice atmosphere, best for taking girlfriend (/boyfriend) to impress them.

If you're interested in cinema me and my girlfriend went to this - http://www.deutsche-kinemathek.de/en - the film exhibition is really interestingly designed and makes great use of space. Its a quick history of german cinema stopping on a few key people/periods. Took us about an hour/and a half and its free on thursdays between 6pm-8pm so can't go too wrong. Right next to potsdamer platz.

Also Bauhaus museum is only £3-5 each and is a good 45min/hour, cafe is not bad as they use loads of the designs in there.

edit: hardly essentials these, but things you might not otherwise have thought about

On my last visit I ate at grill royal, some german place in the sony centre (pork knuckle), amazing sausage / classic german pace in mitte, berger meister.

Nights out we drank at einsteins http://www.lebens-stern.de/en/ bar upstairs bit, amazing drinks from around the world.

Clubs we went to were bravo bar http://bravobarberlin.tumblr.com/ and amano bar http://www.amanogroup.de/en/eat-drink/amano-bar/

Watergate is excellent.
Week-end bar is also a fantastic bar. 3 "rooms" spread over floors 12, 15 and roof terrace of a high rise in city centre. One of my "must sees".
