Do: whatever the fuck you like with friends* as that makes the experience
Don't: listen to others recommendations** as it is subjective

*unless you're a loner then I'd recommend the Jewish museum as you'll really appreciate the ambiance of the place
**Mauerpark is shit and so are the bars. However you might like it. I dunno. I don't know you really.

Go Berghain and don't get in as that's cool.

A FESTIVAL CREATED A MINI BERGHAIN JUST TO DENY PEOPLE AT THE DOOR

A hiliarous simulation of the world's most exclusive techno club

Ironic, obsessive and ingenious all at once, The Netherland's Beyond Festival housed an on-site installation called 'Berghenk', a miniature mock-up of Berlin's famed Berghain with the sole purpose of denying people at the door.

I liked that open karaoke thing they have at Mauerpark on Sundays, good way to waste a few hours with a couple of beers.

If you've got that much to splash on a 4 night stay, might as well go slightly over budget and stay at the Adlon or Waldorf.

Planning a trip with the mrs next year. We've done most of the sights already, but she's not done the clubs. Best hotel for 150 per night, 200 max?

Anyone done Berlin on the cheap recently. Might be going next month, any good hostels etc? Which areas are nice to explore in the daytime? Good clubs for techno or tech house in thee evening?

Every techno club is the same, ie a crackden with speakers.

Kaber Blau, Renate, Berghain, Watergate all offer shit music with indoor smoking.

Have a good time!

LOL so true. It's all about what drugs you're taking to how good a time you're going to have these days sadly.

Utter bullshit.
You're talking like the club scene is dead in Berlin.
Still the best city in the world for clubbing.

And it's always been about the drugs.

If you get talking to some locals you'll find some gems of clubs not on the radar.
Fuck Berghain and all that bollocks. It's like visiting London and going to the ministry.

Think about all the cracking small clubs in London and multiply by ten.

Don't follow the tourists.

I must have been oblivious to it a decade ago when I lived there. My friends circle never touched drugs and we always had a cracking night out. If I go back nowadays it's all about partying till 8am to goya or techno and if you're not on something you will struggle to keep up.

Like it or not, drugs fuel these type of clubs.
Good for you if you don't do them but going until 8am is the norm for Berlin.
I don't tend to do them these days as I'm getting on a bit, but my best nights from what I recall are on great gear. In clubs anyway.

Not everyone does them though and I commend anyone who manages to swerve it. I do find it odd when people say they don't them, which is sad in a way.

Sounds like you'd be better off at somewhere like Matrix.
