All good, would say the craziness of the numbers of people dying is probably throwing everyone into a spin, most of us are in reasonable condition and should beat it pretty easily.

Both my brothers and my sister are GPs so when I started feeling like shit I went full on nepotism as I knew I was getting something nasty. I did call 111 at the beginning but they weren’t interested unless I was dying.

glad to hear you’re feeling better, i hadn’t seen any accounts on what it’s actually like,
are you staying away from close family, is there any need you think?

I’ll be honest quest, with the kids at home from school it’s been tough to be completely sealed off from them. My sister has just given birth so I’ve not seen her and the new baby, nor have I visited my parents who are both 65+ so I’ve been sensible with extended family but the wife and kids are a different proposition. I’ve just been careful to not cough / sneeze / breathe on them and have spent nights in the spare room. They’ve been washing hands regularly, dosing up on antioxidants and Vitamin C / ginger and so far no symptoms.

Last Friday I started my shifts and my workmate had been ill for his shifts. We spent about 40 minutes together before he left, then on the Tuesday he told me him and his wife had tested positive. She was rushed to hospital with pneumonia and sepsis and has been there since (other health issues before this). He still feels bad but getting better, a lot of same stuff as ismvil.

So I’ve been pretty lucky not to get it as no symptoms in 8 days.

I’m classed as a key worker so I go back Monday and I’m sure I’ll get it at some point.

The numbers of contamination between family members within a household is low considering how contagious it is, so at least you've got that going for you. as ismvil can attest to. well done on a recovery with it mate. that breathless after 10 seconds of talking would have me panicking!

Sounds grim, hope you're all ok.

ismvil wrote: So days 1-5 I had an intermittent fever, mostly in the evenings / overnight - the killer thing was the exhaustion and the constant sinus heavy headache, I just wanted to stay in bed and sleep all day, my appetite was shot and even getting up to take a piss was like running a 10k. Paracetamol didn’t seem to do anything for the pain but reduced the fever. Day 6 on I started getting the dry cough but by then the exhaustion was gone and appetite was at around 50-60% so it was just annoying - for me it wasn’t constant just intermittent throughout the day, I kept drinking water and getting my lozenge on. The slightly unnerving thing was the accompanying breathlessness - like I was constantly winded and had to catch my breath even when talking for more than 10 seconds. I’m day 11 since it started today and the breathlessness is pretty much gone, no fever for almost a week and coughing is at a minimum. So for me, all in all it was pretty mild - just a really shitty flu with the coughing / breath stuff and the feeling I wanted to spend all day everyday in bed. But then I’m fortunate with no real underlying health stuff except asthma when I was a kid. CSB etc

mental man. glad you're alright. you know how you caught it?

Fucks sake.

Confirmed cases now 200,000 worldwide. Which is 0.0026% of the world's population.

Deaths now 8000. Which is 0.0001% of the world's population.

Agreed we should self-isolate and take precautions, but no need to shit our pants just yet

Laughing out loud

Thanks for that ismvil. I've just been reading your symptoms to my Mum, which she appreciated as she felt she hasn't really had an accurate description of what to expect. She works at a school for disabled children and they have fatalities there anyway, but the situation has escalated quite a lot since.

Glad to hear that things are getting better. ✌️
