Recommendations for a long weekend away with missus: pubs, food, cocktail bars, shops etc. Only really got food places so far:

- Wilks

skip the cow shed. overpriced. gallimaufry on gloucester road does a decent roast, as does the cadbury in st werburghs (bit crustier though)

pubs - gallimaufry, hillgrove porter stores, canteen, volunteer tavern
shops - hoko (shopping is a bit shit in bristol imo - hoko is excellent though)
food - other than those listed - loads of good lunch spots in st nick's market (chili daddy for szechuan noodles). you may also want to try the HOBA kebab popup at volunteer tavern. old housemate of mine's thing. very very decent (https://www.instagram.com/hoba_kebab/?hl=en) review - (http://365bristol.com/review/hoba-kebab-pop-up-kitchen/1102/)

where are you staying? these recommendations are a bit north of the river biased

Thanks for the recommendations, will look into them - we're staying in Clifton, just off of Whiteladies Road. Any decent cocktail bars around? Can be south / north of river

hyde & co is like a speakeasy style place with a hidden entrance just at the start of whiteladies road. milk thistle is owned by the same guys in the centre, which is a bit bigger. good cocktails, but i'm no expert. pata negra has a cocktail bar upstairs too which is ok

Wilks is alright but over the road is a place called Wilson’s which is really good. Worth a visit.

Worth a walk around Wapping Wharf as well, some nice spots.

For Sunday roast I’d recommend Jamaica Street Stores, The Victoria Park or The Greenbank.

Also in Easton is a place called Dela which is pretty good.

Not a cocktail bar but on St Michaels Hill is psychopomp distillery. You can book in there and make your own gin etc. Not far from the hospital if you get carried away.

No Mans Grace for Roast/Dinner
King Street for pubs
Pasture for steak
Brozen Bar for frozen cocktails

South of the river but the Malago is a fucking great roast. Not a cool place at all, but great food.

Paco Tapas is worth a visit if you want a michelin star meal in a more casual environment. It's the sister restaurant of Casamia, which is next door.

Will be hitting up Pasta Ripeana this weekend, if it's anything like its sister restaurant (pasta loco) I will be very pleased

Impromptu night over Friday-Saturday. Staying central, any recommendations for decent brekkie Saturday morning?

Gonna check out HOBA at the Volunteer tomorrow and Brozen Bar in the evening. Milk Thistle is cool for cocktails.

Poco over in Stokes Croft. Short walk from Volunteer Tabern if you’re staying round there.

Nice one, thanks burny. Staying central but will check it out another time.

Can't compliment Sky Kong Kong enough, such fantastic food, service and value - a proper experience on all kinda levels, even though the exterior is questionable…

HOBA at the Volunteer Tavern was spot on, deffo worth the trip outta the centre; kebab and dirty fries were fantastic.

Steer well clear of the cocktail gaff above Pata Negra.

Brozen was a cool experience, run by a coupla young kids, the kinda quirky place that Bristol needs - definitely worth visiting.

Booked SKK on Thursday for Friday but there was a constant stream of customers.

Mrs.Potts delivered; coupla doors away from Carhartt too which is a bonus.

Brew Dog was ok, decent choice of beer but clientele were 90% pissed up blokes (at 3pm).

Wasn't feelin' Burger Theory, was proper rammed though. Been to Chilli Daddy which is a stone's throw away before - wish I'd revisited.

You been to the bike shop on the river, swede (Mud?)? Some nice gear there. Cafe/Bar above was pretty good albeit hipster filled.

Thanks for all the recommendations on these pages - FUK delivering large Cool

In Bristol over the weekend, best bars/pubs for day session in and around 02 Academy/SWX/Thekla? This is where the majority of the bands we are seeing will play.
