skip the cow shed. overpriced. gallimaufry on gloucester road does a decent roast, as does the cadbury in st werburghs (bit crustier though)
pubs - gallimaufry, hillgrove porter stores, canteen, volunteer tavern
shops - hoko (shopping is a bit shit in bristol imo - hoko is excellent though)
food - other than those listed - loads of good lunch spots in st nick's market (chili daddy for szechuan noodles). you may also want to try the HOBA kebab popup at volunteer tavern. old housemate of mine's thing. very very decent (

where are you staying? these recommendations are a bit north of the river biased

Thanks for the recommendations, will look into them - we're staying in Clifton, just off of Whiteladies Road. Any decent cocktail bars around? Can be south / north of river

hyde & co is like a speakeasy style place with a hidden entrance just at the start of whiteladies road. milk thistle is owned by the same guys in the centre, which is a bit bigger. good cocktails, but i'm no expert. pata negra has a cocktail bar upstairs too which is ok

No Mans Grace for Roast/Dinner
King Street for pubs
Pasture for steak
Brozen Bar for frozen cocktails
South of the river but the Malago is a fucking great roast. Not a cool place at all, but great food.

Paco Tapas is worth a visit if you want a michelin star meal in a more casual environment. It's the sister restaurant of Casamia, which is next door.

Will be hitting up Pasta Ripeana this weekend, if it's anything like its sister restaurant (pasta loco) I will be very pleased

Impromptu night over Friday-Saturday. Staying central, any recommendations for decent brekkie Saturday morning?
Gonna check out HOBA at the Volunteer tomorrow and Brozen Bar in the evening. Milk Thistle is cool for cocktails.

yeah mud dock is decent. good for high end gear. mechanics are excellent but do cost at £50/hr
chili daddy is amazing. pork shaozi noodle hot pot is the one. used to reach the one by uni 2-3 times a week

In Bristol over the weekend, best bars/pubs for day session in and around 02 Academy/SWX/Thekla? This is where the majority of the bands we are seeing will play.
