Their landlord took possession including all of their stuff (they had paid to get utilities put in etc as well I believe), turfed them out and is opening his own bar - cheeky sod

Any decent pubs to head towards in Central London? Can handle a bit further out if its worthwhile. Decent beers, not too hipster, no themes, no tourists… asking too much?

Not sure if central enough but Borough Market has 2 or 3 good pubs (Wheatsheaf, Rake and Market Porter) very busy drink outside kind of thing. Often go on a Friday after work.

Yes, check opening times for Borough Market itself as that is worth a browse to line your stomach.

Wheatsheaf used to be a great pub. Untouched since probably the 50's & full of regulars. Now just another identikit boozer for passing trade. Sad

Had a book about it when it closed (supposedly for good ) http://brownseditions.com/bookstore/book-details/product/the-wheatsheaf-rip/

Interesting.

I have only known it in its current guise, they don't have the beer selection of the other two but it has a younger crowd so thought it was worth mentioning.

Also the George Inn across the road is OK, not a great beer choice but cosy inside and heated outside area.

Anyway, London is obviously massive so don't go on my recommendation Laughing out loud

Dean Street and the surrounding area have some good pubs

In addition to CJ's shout, The George Inn & The Bunch of Grapes near Borough Market are decent boozers

Anyone recommend a decent pub for a sunday afternoon session? Doesn't have to be great food, just have a bit of a buzz on a sunday and central (bit like the ship in wandsworth)

Thanks

What are people's opinions of Juno on Shoreditch High Street? Have been talking to the owners about doing something in there but don't want to associate myself with somewhere that's just full of wastegash Essex types thinking that they're hot shit cos' they were brave enough to leave Loughton on a Friday night.

BYOC any good for a first date or will I have some mustachioed bartender in my face all night listening to me clumsily fail to chat someone up?

Always thought It was a shite bar, but not too bad in terms of the crowd.

Going for dinner in Soho with my sister and Mrs, can someone recommend a relaxed bar with good cocktails? Bar Termini sounds good.

Somewhere central to watch a Saturday lunchtime kick off (Merseyside derby on 1st April) - chilled, with decent food ideally
