Exactly. Need something different to coax the 'Dry January's out

West is best mate - Covent Garden & Soho are decent. Even Acton & Ealing has loads of decent boozers.

Depends what you're into - I just like standard boozers really; you're not going to find anything jumping and pumping, like house djs or anything like that. You don't really get that in west London. There's a few places that are alright - Freud's up Shaftsbury Avenue; Earlham Street Clubhouse in Covent Garden; Ain't Nothing Bur A Blue's Bar in Soho; Cahoots in Soho.

Most of the places close at 12 though apart from a few cocktail places that are open till 3.

None of those. Its like a big place, might not really be a pub but has a bar or two bars and is in an old old building. Not great identifies I know. I think was mentioned on here ages ago.

Cottonopolis in Manchester, opening night, impressive space, feels like the current trend in Manchester of large bar, modern/traditional decor, with a resturant add-on. Has Krusovice in tanks imported directly from Prague.we Music is a bit varied/wank, and the crowd is partially chav, possibly due to bar mandem mates. Some right sorts.

Good addition to Manchester bar scene.

I had lunch on the ground floor there a few times back in spring - what happened to them? I noticed the shutters have been down a lot
