No it doesn't
Cordroy is from norfolk innit?
I guess I'm middle. My dad's from rural ireland my mum grew up in africa cos my grandad went over on national service and joined the police over there. Private school, but not one of the really expensive ones, had a job since 16 but supported through uni and I grew up in a nice place.
Also trying to go to art school tho
Is the fact that the idea of class makes me cringe a bit also a factor, and the fact I'm proud that people never assume I went to a private school?

I know cord-du-roye comes from the French phrase for 'cord of the kings'.
No it doesn't

I havn't read any of this thread but my mum is the queen of sheba and my dad's a binman but we're really poor but I wear loads of expensive clothes and we shop at selfridges food hall, so really I'm working class right?

dad earns £100k+, mum earns less than half that.
three story house, just had a 100K+ extension. nice little village. two nice cars, audi & vw.
all us three kids work and we all have ever since we were old enough to do a paper round. im the eldest at 19. my parents work incredibly hard to provide and to be where they are today. we are in no way spoilt and get £70 spent on each of us for our 'big' christmas present, if its more than £70 then we have to put the rest in ourselves.
we dont go on expensive holidays every year, simply cause we dont have the time. one of us is always doing something.
ive been bought up on 'work then play'
where do i sit?

I grew up spending the school holidays mixing concrete and used to go fox hunting at the weekend. There were tinkers in my class at school. My father owes the bank 2.3 million due to the crash, but everything is in my mothers name. My day now consists of getting up around 2 pm, checking my emails and seeing how much money I made over night. Then I might go salmon fishing for the evening. When ever I am bored I hop on a plane somewhere.
I don't think I'm working class now, but I'd be able to do a days manual labour no problem if I had to. I'm not middle class as I don't hold the same values as they do at all. And I'm definitly not upper class as it doesn't exist in Ireland. I'd say I'm a new type of country gent.
