If you mean you want to hack into a wireless network then use software like Wireshark that can capture packets and crack the encryption quite quickly.

If you have a router that you have lost the passkey for then all you can do is a factory reset - get a manual first as you then have to add in the internet account login details for your broadband account. Check there isn't a sticker on the router with the passkey first - I found this worked on more than a few occasions.

thanks

Or try using backtrack. There are guides over the web to crack different wireless security policies.

hey, ive got a belkin router atm with wirelessG usb adapter. i ran a windows 7 upgrade test and everything is compatible apart from the adapter. is it possible to buy a new adapter or will i need a new router also?
if so can anyone please recommend one. i have an adsl line, sadly no cables.
i was looking at an n1 belkin router but also a pci wireless card - is that also an option?

Basically since the other day videos are not playing in media player automatically when I click the link or on the embedded browser player. This means that anytime i'm on thehun.com I have to download the videos to my desktop if i want to play them. I then sometimes forget that i've done this and you can then imagine how hard it is to explain atm videos to people who use my computer.

I think this has happened since I installed VLC player.

yeah youtubes working and im using IE.

When I click into a link on the site, and then click on the porno clip I want to watch it just say's there is a problem with the connection, but if I right click save as it's fine. I thought it was just the website but it was the same on worldsex.com

Has maybe VLC become default or something and messed it up?

Cheers.

So a few months ago my dad's macbook pro suddenly stopped picking up our wifi in the lounge, despite it working for years. I never found the solution, it wasnt much of a problem, because it was only me who used it any where away from his office (router location).

Over the past few days, my iMac (upstairs) has gone from full signal, to one bar, barely loading web pages sometimes.. any ideas? just buy a new router?

Can your router be upgraded with firmware? maybe it has something to do with that?

Seems unlikely, shego fiddle with the wireless, change the channel, network name etc etc, generally seems to work I find, in particular use something like this: http://www.metageek.net/products/inssider to see what channels other networks nearby etc are doing, a good rule is to try and have as little as possible within 3 channels either side of the one you're on.
Check the router to see if it's overheating (a lot do) and see if it can go on it's side, usually fixes the problem as idiotically the vents are always on the bottom.

^^Cheers duffman!

Okay, so first of all i put the router on it's side. Signal strength gone back up to 4 bar ?! I then downloaded istumbler which if i remember correctly is the mac equivalent of inssider. It van see 3 networks, ours and 2 others. Our signal is on average 30%, compared to the other two at 16 or less. No noise anywhere. Using ch10 and the other two aren't close. (1 and 6).

I'll see how it goes, need to check out my dad's laptop to see how his is doing. Fuck knows what the lounge signal problem is, because my other netbook running on linux works fine.

Hmm, 30% is pretty shit, you a long way from the router then? If you can fit a different aerial on the router they can make a BIG difference, otherwise you might be well off buying a better router I suppose, depends what you have at the moment. Wireless N routers are supposed to be pretty decent.

Yeh, i figure after 5 years plus of using this one we should just buy a new one anyway. Now looking for the best wireless N for under 70ish

Are you in a company environment? They may have implemented a Group Policy setting to change the Outlook restrictions - if they have then it will keep applying itself whenever you logon so you'll have to put up with it.

If you are in standalone environment then have you applied any secutity updated? These may have changed the zone settings to tighten up security and need a different approach to work around.

thanks
