Jayboy wrote: Ill try this out.. So last summer i was in Kabul, Afghanistan for vacation, kinda of. One day this war photographer i was hanging out with on the Kabul sports center teaching kids, ask me if i wanted to see the old bird market.

This meaning me and him leaving a safe area, skateboarding down the kabul river alone for about 45 in, downtown Kabul, no safetygear, no guns, nothing. Of course i said yes, we did a few of those trips around town, and they are always a blast, always something going on. So we started skating, and people honk the cars, kids running after us, and we where pretty much making a scene anyweher, No wonder, since skateboarding are pretty unknown there. anyways, after i while we reached the end of the river, and it gets divided to a left and right road. Suddenly about 100 meters away, a guy blows himself up infront of a policestation, thus killing the guards, making room for two more guys with ak-47 going in blasting of.

They killed about 13 people, then the army got them before they got to blow their bombbelts. I was standing there not knowing what to do, supercalm though strangely enough, so i tried to take some photos.. But my friend pulled me away and we went ahead to the birdmarket and shoot some pics. And under all of this i was still supercalm. We went back later to the site, and there where al lthis american soldiers screaming at us to leave.. Thats one of millions storys from my summer in Afghanistan.

On another note, i once where drinking beers with Bono at this dublinclub called lillies bordello or something for a few hours, taking about skateboarding and music.. Thats a story for another day though.

So this disgusting skag head came over to me when I was sitting outside The Star in Bethnal Green yesterday when my friend was getting some ticket inside and started talking to me about Usain Bolt. He was beyond fucked, like horrible, no teeth, stick stick stick thin and just a mess. So we was going on and on, rambling about all kinds of nonsense sipping this can of 95p cider, he was talking about his drug habit, drinking too much, his flat in bethnal green, the olympics. And he was talking to me about finance saying the Thames is finance, the current is the different areas of finance and boats are the general public and the big bridges like London Bridge are the big CEOs etc.. all kinds of nonsense talk with some racist comments chucked in. Anyhow my friend and I didnt tell him to go away or anything so he carried on and walked us all the way to Shoreditch, by this point he had even given us his exact address and asked us to go over whenever we liked…
he was spitting rhymes too and welled up when he told us his bag full of all his verses was stolen from his flat once (like 4 years ago)
so we got to Brick Lane and were like listen mate we are gonna have to go and he said the following almost verbatim… 'ahhh errr, you guys are like proper sound, I really like you, and you are the first two people in about 3 months who havent told me to fuck off and have actually spoken to me and not looked down at me because I look like this … i have a phone, please take my number and please please please PLEASE give me a call or text and we can meet up in Bethnal Green again…'
it was pretty sad but my friend actually took his number, hopefully he got so trashed last night he forgot about us

I hate seeing people like that, it's so unfortunate how some lives turn out.

I seriously see life as a lottery, if you're born into a lower class family, it's most likely you will remain there.

I think what Razor lights saying is that he's into the psychology aspect… As is the rise and fall of people, society… Bb for eggsample. Which is observation, goodshit

Doesn't seem it if he is, seems he's takign the psychological aspect out of it and putting a much larger emphasis on class and circumstances. He has pretty much stated people don't rise, not if they're 'lower class'

The bb house takes a large part of class priviledge out of the situation doesn't it? Although it can't take out how its influenced how a person acts.

well, class is institutional so even if someone, born into a lower class family does very well in life, it doesn't necessarily mean that he moves into a higher social class. (Unless of course oliver twist marries a blue blood.) So i guess, I can see what Razor is saying.

But I disagree with it anyway because i think he was making a more general point, see the 'bad' examples above from dy and serbia. And I bet my holy grails that there are and will continue to be many examples where people have turned a doyle brunson into an A10 suited.

Anyhow what does bb has to do with the price of fish? Puzzled

It's not really a hugely psychological observation, but its mainly based on the enviroment you're raised in - to be honest it's quite a generalised view upon the working class. But it's from my own personal observation and I'm sure many of you will see the same thing.

There's an area in Birmingham called Weoley Castle and its a very working class area. You'll see that 'most' of those born into a working class family in that enviroment will 'most likely' remain there - there's a clear lack of aspirations from the attitude of the parents which is passed onto their children, that's clearly based in the environment they're raised in - which then becomes a cyclical problem.

Of course they'll be examples of a few people who buck the trend but the majority will remain in the working class which is unfortunate. You'll also see those from middle/upper class who fuck up - but again it's a minority.

I work with kids from Weoley Castle and all the other surrounding areas and you are right in the fact that they will be 3rd generation unemployed or uneducated but it is not just a family thing. Poor schooling, amenities, lack of money into the areas,no guidance on how to create a career etc etc the reasons are endless. Goes well beyond what happens behind their houses closed door though.

Edit: Just reread the post and I see you mention environment 2/3 times and I agree.

Take a kid from that environment and put him into king Edwards(One of the best schools in Birmingham) before he becomes accustom to the working class environment and I can assure you he'll/she'll will have greater aspirations.

It's not like these kids are stupid as well, they become raised to be stupid - they believe they can't do maths or write.
