If I buy from a private seller (Grailed, eBay, etc) somewhere in Europe will I have to pay customs?

Haven't actually bought anything outside the UK since Brexit so not familiar with the process.

Yeah if its declared value is below £135 you’ll be fine (as long as they don’t mark as a gift, in which case the limit is £39). Anything above £135 and you’ll pay 20% tax + handling fees, which vary between courier

Cheers, guys.

It's £1k so wouldn't want to risk going with a lower declared value. So I'm essentially looking at around £200-250ish on top?

Unfortunately yeah, if the seller/shop don’t offer any services to the effect of getting around customs (mention that as a few China-based shops seem to have cracked it for hi fi stuff). If you’re buying from EU/Japan/some other places, would double check and make sure they’re taking off tax, so you only pay once (at customs)

What are the services the China-based shops are using to get around customs? Assuming it's not something a private seller would be able to employ?

Edit: The seller is in Norway. Assuming we don't have any special/cushy deals with them that allows us to skip customs on imports from Norway?

Has anyone else experienced the ballache that is trying to get your tax back on returned goods? You need MRN, EROI, address, emails, telephone, port of the shipment to give to HMRC in order to get your money back.

I did this last month with a FedEx shipment and now I'm having to do with DHL for something I bought from the Armoury HK which they then made me return to NYC.

Anyone had dealings with German customs? Had to send something over there for repair and was stung for a ridiculous fee.

Fuck just bought something from someone from malaysia and they marked the price down and DHL just emailed me saying they won’t release it until I prove how much I paid for it with a screenshot. Anyone had this? How will I get around it? Bastards.
