Thought I'd put this in here as I'm looking for a commuter bag. I want something that looks good but ultimately is practical as I will likely by cycling with it on. I'm not a huge fan of sack like bags, ie messengers, but don't want it to be swinging around and it needs to be comfortable! So far my short list is a Filson original briefcase for compartment spaces and look, also more versatile, and the other is a Chrome barrage cargo backpack as it's waterproof, well supported and good for helmet, lock storage. Any other suggestions would be much appreciated!

Have a look at Rickshaw Bagworks. I have one of their messengers but they also do backpacks and briefcases.

if it's for cycling, no brainer - Mission Workshop or Brooks.
I have that nanamica, it's a great size but the strap down the middle is annoying if you open the main compartment a lot.

Cheers for the help. Defintiely swaying to MW. However, need advice on whether people prefer using messenger bags or backpacks. What's more versatile off the bike. I'm looking at the the Arkiv R6 and Arkiv Monty btw. Cheers!

Bach Bike2B is quite nice for the price and the tag looks like it can be easily removed with a seam ripper.

I like those Mission Workshop messengers.

If it's practicality you're after and want to lug around a tonne of stuff, then the Patagonia Critical Mass is worth looking at. Not an attractive bag, but it depends on what your priorities are in a bag. I'm selling my spare one in black should you be interested.
