I have a caad10 which I upgraded last year to a canyon ultimate cf slx

I still have the caad10 in the shed as I cant face selling it Laughing out loud it has to be the best bike ever made under 2k?

if you can find an offer on the 12 then get that, Im tempted to sell my caad10 which has been ridden to the ground and get a caad12 for next winter.

Sell me the caad10

Proving tricky to find the right thing at a decent price (inc second hand) and I don't want to chew into too much of the summer…

can't fault my caad10. best bike I have owned, even if it is alu. as I am a bit heavier I benefit from the stiffness of the alu vs the lower end carbon I have owned in the past. ill take the 100g or so penalty..

I have not ridden a caad12 but it can only be better or equal to the caad10. the canyon is good too, I know many people who have said caad10s are very similar to ultimate ALs. I havent ever ridden one but tbh you can't go too wrong with canyon, even though their customer service has been doubted a bit recently

my next bike will be something with geo similar to the caad10, but carbon fibre, discs, bolt thru axles (at the very least at the front) and a normal threaded BB… not much on the market at all atm that satisfies those needs. wish cannondale would just sack off BB30

Update- I'll be going with the AWOL, sequoia or diverge sport based on versatility and which is the most comfortable to sit on. Budget £1100, well done FUK.

Sequoia > awol, would recommend replacing the seat in case your ass isnt used to punishment

Just sat on a Sequoia. Ticked every box. But, plastic pedals on a 1.1k bike, come on.

only sold like that due to the variety of pedal options on offer. most people will want to stick with what they have and therefore put their own pedals on

can buy £5k roadbikes without pedals

Can anyone advise on the pros and cons of buying a new bike from the current range vs a higher spec from an older range on sale?

Found a Cervelo R2 2017 and R3 2015 that are about £200 difference but the spec is quite significant.

Get the R3. Don't fall into the trap of buying the latest model… the '15 R3 will still outperform this years R2

Thanks. And what the concensus on rims vs discs. I bought a 26' mtb before the 29er 650b craze so want to ensure I get it right!

Hard to make an argument against disks from a technical or performance perspective but aesthetically they look so wrong on a road bike imo.

That's what I thought. I think enough people agree to mean that it won't change completely. Unless the pro tour adopts it completely.

I can't really talk because I'd never wear hi-viz but wearing camo while cycling is just plain retarded.

Thanks all for the advice. Unfortunately the R3 has sold out. Managed to find a '15 R2 for 30% off so looking at that with a possible wheel upgrade.

Still trying to weigh up discs over rims. My dream bike has always been a cervelo, but my budget doesn't allow for the disc version.

Am I making a mistake going for rim brakes at this point? I got a 26' mtb just before the 29/650b thing started so don't want to get something that may not wind up being a practical purchase as far as new tech etc is concerned!

Im not likely to be doing more than weekend cycling if that helps?!

Nah, a decent set of rim brakes are absolutely fine.

In my experience of commuting in all weathers discs are only noticeably better in the wet. They require more fettling as well, rim brakes are far easier and less hassle.
