ordered it through green commute initiative so saving ~40% on list price. look forward to getting it as it ticks the boxes well for a decent winter bike. wouldn't want to be doing things by halves… did look at the kinesis 4S disc too but felt like pushing the boat out a bit

Finally back in the game with another Fargo.
Bike/component shortages are no joke!

On the topic of cleats, does anyone have experience of buying cleats off eBay? All of the Shimano cleats are much cheaper (£9 vs £17 on Wiggle), so are they fakes/knock offs? Some of the sellers have 1k+ reviews. The pictures of the rear of the pack have what looks like Chinese text.

An example:

Yeah likely cheap chinese knock offs. Will probably fit the pedal but made from less durable material so will wear out quicker than genuine products.

Would just buy ones from a legit source, they're consumables like tyres or tubes which you'd be less inclined to replace with snides.

That said, have seen several good write-ups on Speedplay copies from aliexpress if you're that way inclined.

What do you think of it?

I'm in the market for a gravel sub £1800.
It'll spend 90% of the time on the road admittedly. But looking for something a bit sturdier so I can strap the little one on the back.

Looking at a Canyon grail 6, Ribble Gravel AL… anyone got any other recommendations to look at?

Guy in my club bought a KMC chain thinking it was real off eBay through some power seller. Snapped in 2x different places on 1 ride Laughing out loud scary as fuck that it’s becoming so easy to be duped into buying fakes now though

I'm awaiting a Surly Straggler build via a local shop (taking ages but thats another thing…). Did a bit of research and the various Surly models seemed good options, each geared a little more to touring, city or gravel. Lots of customisation potential (road / offroad) as can take bigger tyres and all capable of taking weighty cargo.

Kona Sutra or Brother Kepler (expensive) were also coming up when I was looking. Cyclist friends also spoke highly of the Genesis Croix de Fer as a good do it all bike.

Laughing out loud Wow, that's shocking.

Seems like it's a 50/50 chance of getting a fake buying through amazon or ebay nowadays.

I love it, rides a lot better than the 2015 Fargo I had. Though when biking these days I'm more of a camp and go slow mindset rather than campagnalo. I was looking at a Bombtrack Beyond or building up a Kona Sutral ULTD framset, but went with the Fargo due to the high stack and extra tire clearance. Going to get some 3" tyres for it down the road.

As cracka said the Genesis Croix de Fer looks pretty good. You can't go wrong with steel. Bombtrack do some more gravel specific bikes as well - https://bombtrack.com/2021-gravel-allroad/

I'm sure the Canyon Grail AL would make for a great choice, but I have an aversion to aluminium frames from riding a few hand me down al mountain bikes from the 90's.. It's not a rational aversion mind you given the advances in aluminium tubing since then!

Would like to rent one of these Canyons for a weekend and go nuts with it - https://www.canyon.com/en-us/gravel-bikes/adventure/grizl/

I've got a big soft spot for Stragglers cracka Cool

Anyone interested in a LOT of Rapha gear?
My cycling days are over and my bike and clothes are up for sale.

Too many clothes to list.
Gloves
Backpacks

So many tops and bibs.
Helmets.

I have just shared them all with a guy FB messenger so could probably forward them all to someone else.

why are you rushing it? should just list clearly what the items are and that its a job lot at £1300. your approach/attitude isn't doing you any favours
