have a look at a 2nd hand charge plug - you can just run it singlespeed..

bombproof, cheap, don't look terrible..

Any mountain bikers here or are we all city street riders?

Just picked up a new XC bike to get up the local trails on. Its been a while. I used to ride BMX. Then moved to Downhill riding. Now its XC.

I guess all I need is a fixie and I'd have completed the collection Laughing out loud

Cheers. Like them and the karate monkey, was just looking at completes and they look a bit out of my league.. I'm planning on buying used too which'll hopefully allow for a better bike for my money. I reckon I'll be able to part with about £2-400, not too low for starter bike is it?

Yeah its always worth investing a bit more on a good set of hubs/wheels.
Some of the jumps those 4x riders hit are crazy.

I was going to buy a Giant Talon 3 (all I can afford at the moment) but the shop assistant got me on his sales talk and I ended up getting the more expensive Cube Acid. Never heard of Cube before but they're meant to be okay plus component wise it was a lot better value for money.

Being from Wales I've basically got all the best xc trails on my doorstep Smiling Afan Argoed, Brechfa, Brecon Beacons. Plus when I have time its always great to get the downhill bike up Cwmcarn.

only down side with a plug or similar is that you can't run fatties. nice to bounce around town with balloon tires.

had some 32 mm tires for a couple weeks, then changed them for some 60's and it feels like riding on pillows.

jesus you crash your road bike? or still waiting to put it all together?

Seems like quite an expensive hobby Jesus. You always seem to have a couple of builds on the go. I take you don't spend much money on anything else (aside from child)

actually if it was it would be a wilier or a colnago

its as expensive as you make it,

i don't NEED £1k wheels etc

same with kids, as expensive as you make them, he's only 6 months old so doesn't know,

in a year i probably couldn't afford to build this bike as cash priorities will be elsewhere
