I get that you can't come from the Falls and not be a far-left Republican zealot. But that doesn't make you an authority on whether or not Adams is a terrorist, if anything you shouldn't be listened to. Ask one of the 3000-odd families of IRA victims if he's a terrorist (only a couple of dozen of which were loyalist paramilitaries to put it into perspective). Ask Jean McConville's family.

When Adams goes should someone bring up the arms deals with Gadaffi?

He's a terrorist. The difference between him and the scummy cunts on the other side is he's personable and highly intelligent.

I'm no fan of Thatcher btw, although the pleasure some of you seem to be taking is a bit crass. Lanz' BB post is more or less spot on.

Jingoistic praise all over the shop for the most controversial figure in that era of politics, bringing out of the rhetoric that we need a 'strong leader' again blah blah Tory excuse to further fuck with the welfare state etc.

Explain how you have come to the conclusion I'm a Republican zealot???? you won't find one example… guaranteed! that is pretty ignorant of you! if anything I was more into drugs scene growing up..not proud of it..but I guess you assume where all learning how to make bombs!

I live here, have friends, family who are republicans I also have plenty of friends who are in the same position but with loyalist paramilitaries! I'm in a good position to judge! and I'm not a big fan of Gerry Adams or anything..

I shouldn't be listened to..your a clown! I'm sure I've proved how open minded I am to debate in the politics thread! So how many did the British Army kill?..around the world..how many countries have the British government colonised? That's not terrorism? or is it only terrorism if the media labels it such!

Explain you definition of a terrorist? did the IRA kill innocent people yes! did the British army ever kill any innocent people Puzzled

I shouldn't have responded to your Adams comment as this could go on for days.

I spent a sizeable portion of my youth living in the Ardoyne and played for Crumlin Star if you know them; I know the area, the politics and the people well.

I don't think there should be any British involvement in (Northern) Ireland, or actually I couldn't give a fuck, whatever's best economically. I haven't justified their actions either, I wouldn't necessarily disagree about there being examples of British terrorism.

You justify the IRA being terrorists by saying "aren't the British terrorists too" though. Isn't that some kind of backwards logic? Killing innocents is never cool, no?

The IRA are terrorists, the UDA and the rest are terrorists. Terrorist scum who have brought so much hurt to that country.

Lets leave it at that though, "you can never win an argument because even when you win, you lose" and all that.

Did this get answered Dickie? Mines operated at a loss and were subsidised by tax payers otherwise they'd still be here no?

Every move she made was charged by negativity; she destroyed the British manufacturing industry, she hated the miners, she hated the arts, she hated the Irish Freedom Fighters and allowed them to die, she hated the English poor and did nothing at all to help them, she hated Greenpeace and environmental protectionists, she was the only European political leader who opposed a ban on the ivory trade, she had no wit and no warmth and even her own cabinet booted her out. She gave the order to blow up The Belgrano even though it was outside of the Malvinas Exclusion Zone—and was sailing AWAY from the islands! When the young Argentinean boys aboard The Belgrano had suffered a most appalling and unjust death, Thatcher gave the thumbs-up sign for the British press.

Iron? No. Barbaric? Yes. She hated feminists even though it was largely due to the progression of the women’s movement that the British people allowed themselves to accept that a prime minister could actually be female. But because of Thatcher, there will never again be another woman in power in British politics, and rather than opening that particular door for other women, she closed it.
Thatcher will only be fondly remembered by sentimentalists who did not suffer under her leadership, but the majority of British working people have forgotten her already, and the people of Argentina will be celebrating her death. As a matter of recorded fact, Thatcher was a terror without an atom of humanity.

MORRISSEY.

Read the Guardian article on the previous page. Poor Jimmy Saville can't defend himself and we weren't too fussed about his family. All this "don't speak ill of the dead" stuff is nonsense when it comes to public figures.

Like any Politician or politics their are good and bad things - I think we are losing perspective that someone has died, respect has gone out the window.

Politics is dangerous but perspective is reality - she fucked my family up but I still respect the fact that she has died.

Bit of a bandwagon if you ask me all this crap, especially all these people that read an obituary or newspaper article and think they fucking know it all

edit - last bit not aimed at anyone btw

Am i the only one that feels fairly indifferent about it? I agree with the Guardian article about not censoring negative comment purely on the basis that someone has died however some of the petty name calling is ridiculous.
