spending a reported £10m of public money on the witches lavish funeral arrangements in the midst of a recession is far more "vulgar" than any street parties imo (I hope the celebrations in Trafalgar Square on Saturday actually get some proper media coverage…)

as Ken Loach has said: "Let's privatise her funeral. Put it out to competitive tender and accept the cheapest bid. It's what she'd have wanted"

Half the people out there don't even know why they 'hate' Thatcher and probably come from families that would vote Tory anyway. They do it because it's trending on Twitter. It's such a load of bollocks. Yes, she was a nasty bitch when she was alive but there are many that more would do the exact same thing today and they're currently running the country.

The hatred is real and definitely not a twitter thing.

Livingston you mean. Was thinking the same thing the day she died, although he was far more pithy

I agree there is genuine hatred and quite rightly but there's large portion of people simply jumping on the bandwagon.

Loach/Livingston aside, that is a great quote.

I agree with this. I'm from the North West and a lot of folk around here loved the woman. There is a lot of hate but I think the majority are jumping on the bandwagon. The majority of people who are on the streets celebrating look to be early twenties and teenagers. Where were they when she was in power.

I'm not hanging onto hatred..her hatred in universal where I live! and the impact of her is still felt! it's not like I'm sitting looking at a pic of her..before she it was announced other day..myself and I'm sure a lot of people hadn't thought bout her for years!
