im wanting to record my first mix on my laptop but not sure how i go about setting it up ..firstly is the cable in the pic the right one ?. ive tried to use it already but all i get is a static noise so i dunno if its the wrong cable or ive set it up wrong ? i did it this way i connected the red & white in the record slots at the back of the mixer then the black connector to my laptop is that right ? … thanks in advance

Anyone ?
You say "record"? Are you sure thats not an input to the mixer hence the static. You should be connecting to the "line out" or "monitor".
If something on a mixer is marked record I'd say that is a phono input for a record player.

no idea i'm afraid, a shit solution would be:
get one of those split thingies, plug your headphones and speakers into it.
pan your tunes to one side eg left for now, and only play the left side with your speakers
pan your preview to the right side so you can listen to the preview and the current song in your stereo headphones

you need an external soundcard
