I just sold some items on ebay, notwithstanding that I'd vowed never to use it again after some previous bad experiences, and rather predictably some of the buyers have already started griping about items not arriving on time and demanding partial refunds lest they give me negative feedback. I used to really like using that site

Don't give in to blackmail. That's feedback extortion and Ebay will remove any negative feedback left. Postal delays are understandable in these strange times.
