Anyone ever needed to appeal for dismissal for gross misconduct? Need help, that or anything about unfair dismissal?

Obviously don’t want to go in to great detail on a msg board, something happened outside of work which is supposedly forbidden but happens all the time, I got caught after the company which the incident happened in breached gdpr and informed my GM. It started by suspension, investigation, disciplinary then dissimisal. I was advised I should appeal but don’t know how to go about it as this is the first time something like this has happened. Is there a standard letter, do I need to put in additional points etc

I work in a casino, was visiting a competitors, seen a customer who’s also my friend he give me money to play, no complaint, manager pulled me aside and said i was being suspended, went away quite happy, no major complaints, 2 days later my GM gets a call and was told I was tapping money from customers, (I was offered it) then that’s when the suspension etc came. Sorry I know it’s really boring

Wasn't he disciplined for abuse of his work's quiet room?

How do those actions break GDPR law? Unless you were passing on customers' personal data to the competitors.

Also the reason for dismissal states “borrowed money from a casino customer”. This is the same place who allowed me and my friends girlfriends in , then banned them and then let them in again, knowing that we would be going out together and socialising with there friends etc

Well if the GM phones my GM and tells times forenames and surnames of the people involved I thought that would be a breach, also other staff telling other customers about personal details

Wasn't me, she got caught with another chap.

Anyway, How long have you been there for to start with? Under 2 years and you basically have no rights to appeal, or at least you can try but a tribunal would throw it out. More than two years and you would have to fund a case yourself. Best place to start is as someone mentioned, free phone ACAS.

14-15years, been in past citizens advice and they said I need to do an appeal first, deadline coming up soon and don’t know how to write it, then after I hear back from the appeal I believe I speak with ACAS

Tribunal fees were scrapped in 2017 weren't they?

You say you have been dismissed already? If so https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/work/leaving-a-job/dismissal/challenge-your-dismissal/

Citizens Advice would be a good point of contact if you can get through to them, they can offer more help than just what's on the website. You may need an appointment face to face which is often tricky.

Thanks, I’ve been in past citizens and think I was just unlucky with the person I got help from as she just said to first do the appeal then come back, so thanks for the replies at the moment but can someone point me towards a good appeal letter
