Berlin
Berlin was a bit let down, having previously been to such beautiful cities as Amsterdam and Paris I expected Berlin to be similar. It was horrible, industrial, sole less, intimidating and very grey. Some of the older buildings had bullet holes and mortar damage which was incredible to see.
The girlfriend revealed her obsession with WW2 which I found slightly disturbing, she dragged me everywhere in the city. She also managed to offend some officials at the Reichstag by asking about Hitler. I was allowed an hour to go to some stores so I visited Nort Berlin which was crap and Solebox which was the best headz store I have ever been too. We stayed in a great hostel which was only £11 per night and which was walking distance to all the major sites.
We joined a free tour which was lead by a Havard graduate who was excellent, he took us to the Reichstag, the new Parliament, the Holocaust Memorial, Hitlers bunker (which is now a car park), the SS head quarters, the Berlin wall and check point Charlie.
