I had this for a week or so, I’m sure of it - eyes hurting, entire body aching and very tired. Like a prolonged jetlag. Must have been COVID-19.

Didn’t have the Montezuma’s revenge though, so still don’t understand why people were stockpiling loo roll.

The Doors were right - people are strange.

No don’t work on rigs.

I was on my 6 days off at home and was due back yesterday. Feel like I’m over the worst now.

Eldest daughters temp was 38.9 and 39.1 last night and she was dithering and sweating was shitting ourselves but today she’s woke up normal again.

Personally I don’t think it’s been the virus but you just don’t know and if I’d gone to work they would have been well pissed off if I’d turned up in the state I was.

I read it stemmed from the Atalanta - Valencia Champions League knock out game, Atalanta being situated in Bergamo, Lombardy. They won 4-1, biggest result in their history, everyone out celebrating and you know what the Italians are like with their celebrating, Valencia fans obviously flew back to Spain where there have been loads of cases, and Bergamo was ground zero for the outbreak in Italy

Few at work have. A friend was made redundant outright which is pretty harsh. His girlfriend is a city lawyer so they should be ok, but are renting in West Hampstead.

I read that McDonalds has furloughed 135k staff! Eek

I work for a large charity and we are incredibly busy (in terms of work and service demand from clients). So much that falls outside of government support needed for people at the moment.

I like that word furlough. There was a anthropomorhic comic in the '90s called that..

I got more work than ever, doing 6 day coz so many weak people don't want to come into the office.

Weaklings

Bought this up inadvertently in the gambling thread but may as well get something going in here:

The NHS - saviour of the people or a bloated altar that the west who’ve lost their faith pray to now…

My quote was as follows:

‘Oh look. Someone who’s been clapping at 8pm every Thursday like we’re in North Korea. People are paid to do their jobs - in the case of NHS staff, their job is to look after the sick.

If we’re going to appreciate everyone who’s making our lives easier in these times, then there’s a lot more unsung heroes out there, like maybe refuse collectors, without whom we would have a real plague on our hands.

Now go back to banging pots and pans mate.’

Weirdly know quite a few people who have, including my gf (cabin crew). Even people in traditionally very “safe” jobs/industries have been furloughed/made redundant as everything has a knock-on effect
