Id forgot so many people were going from here so didnt really keep a look out for people. plus I was very drunk. and I reckon my mates would have questioned any "air keyboarding" when talking to people
where abouts where you when klaxons played mate. Id seen them before and wasnt too fussed about watching them but ended up right at the front, I dont really know if they're any good live but the crowd is always good fun.
Yeh I was bang in the middle at the front in the riot, crowd surfed my way out at 'It's not over yet'
Not normally my sort of thing but due to being pissed outta my nut and the unreal crowd it was brilliant!

meant to do this when I got back but had too much work to do - photos from Connect last weekend
got off the bus from Glasgow and were immediately faced with a muddy track going uphill through a forest. on the way up the hill a sign said "nearly there" and someone had written in the mud under it "lies!"

spotted these two numpties trying to pull wheeled suitcases through the mud

the festival was in the grounds of Inveraray Castle, but none of us realised how close to the castle it actually was until we walked up from the campsite

such a contrast from somewhere like T in the Park - surrounded by hills and trees, glimpses of a loch, and the castle just up from the main stage

the food and drink area was unbelievable, not what you'd expect from a normal festival. there was a Loch Fyne Oyster bar, loads of organic meat, a dirty, dirty puddings stall, plenty of options for us veggies including amazing cheese from Kintyre - the chilli cheese was great. and an ale bar and a whisky tent, with a "menu" of about 50 different single malts starting at 3 quid and disappearing up into silly money

on the first day we saw The Trashcan Sinatras, CSS, Jarvis Cocker, The Jesus and Mary Chain, The Go! Team and the Beastie Boys, who were absolutely immense and funny as fuck. Mike D was challenging "the Dook" to a joust for his castle, then said everyone should storm the castle at the end of their set and the other 2 immediately started shouting "he's just joking, he's just joking". they played a good mix of old and new, No Sleep 'Til Brooklyn was an absolute treat

the next day we escaped out of the campsite where there was no fence, and found ourselves on the banks of Loch Fyne looking towards Inveraray, tempted by the lure of a pub lunch and clean toilets

we saw the 1990s (terrible teeth), The Fire Engines (think I may have been asleep in the sun at this point), Bat For Lashes (so so good), The Divine Comedy (really good banter, he was sitting just along from us after his set finished), Teenage Fanclub (brilliant), Modest Mouse (it was pissing it down by this point and we were more interested in beer and coffee than the music) and Primal Scream, who were fantastic. Swastika Eyes was a musical highlight, but the best bit was Mani in a rage. early on someone at the front chucked a pint at him and it hit him on the head. he grabbed the mic from Bobby Gillespie and started hurling abuse, played a few songs then grabbed it again and shouted, paraphrasing the old Vidal Sassoon advert, "you fucking coward, now I look like I've just stepped out of a saloon"
on the Sunday the sun came out again

first we saw was Seasick Steve, a guy from America playing simple blues with a 3 string guitar which was really good, quite funny too. then it was Scott Matthews on the same stage, but we went over to one of the tents after that because I wanted to see Candie Payne who was brilliant

then it was back to the main stage for Craig Armstrong, the other stage for My Latest Novel, Regina Spektor on the main stage (completely mad but great), Bjork (absolutely bonkers, great performance though) then Idlewild
Bjork

Idelwild

leaving on the Monday morning the weather was the best it had been all weekend, predictably
