going out for a curry on date is a major nish nish - garlic, bloated, bad breath etc

In fact, i've yet to find a decent resturant in Glasgow.
Good curries though.. lol..Ichiban is probably the WORST japanese returant i've ever been to…dire
no way mate..are you serious?
their curries are pretty average but their noodle dishes walk all over any other in the city, i've been eating there for 5 years and after one trip to Tokyo I'd say food was as good as anything I tried there
only Japanese restaurants in Glasgow
Ichiban x 2
Oko
Nanasuka
Wagamama (wouldn't even class this as a restaurant)
Went to Ichiban years ago and thought it was planely average but my girlfriend at the time swore by it.

Been to Vanilla a few times lately (www.vanillalondon.co.uk), also very impressive inside, good to impress the ladies with it's pure white cocktail bar. Also recently paid a visit to Elena's L'Etoile on Charlotte Street which was over priced and one to avoid, steak was piss poor. Went to Gaucho on Chancery Lane last week for some serious surf n turf - very nice and very cool inside, impressive interior with its cowhide funiture, service is one of the best we've had and food is pretty good too, Argentine, so expect good cuts of beef and the complementary cheese bread is delicious. highly recommended. We got a few freebies thrown in but we did over indulge & spend quite a bit.
the gaucho in canary wharf has the same decor very smart in there

I go to the Gaucho in EC3. the steak is fine but the starters and side dishes are a fucking disgrace.

i love gaucho, went to the hampstead one last night though with family and girlfriend for my birthday and the service ruined the whole night. never really had a problem there before but they couldnt have fucked up any more things if theydve tried.
been to vanilla a few times, always found it quite empty and lacking in atmosphere.

If anyone in the north west is looking for a top pub meal, there's a small chain called Ribble Valley Inns. My regular haunt is The Three Fishes although I've tried the others also.
Food is fantastic, locally sourced produce, traditional english meals without trying too hard (if that makes sense?). Last trip had warm shrimps on toasted muffin, toad in the hole and marmalade sponge pudding with blood orange ice cream.
Bit of a drive to get to for us, but it's well worth it (especially as the missus does the driving). Usually spend about £70 for 2, including a few real ales for moi.

Another great pub in the North West for you Greater Manchester Fukers is 'The Rams Head' at Denshaw in the hills over Rochdale and Oldham.
The service, food and atmosphere were great. My steak was cooked to perfection.
3 of us ate: ordered 2 starters, 3 mains, 2 pints of ale, 2 orange juice and a mineral water - £85, bargain considering what I had (pictured below)
My Starter: Half a lobster in garlic and herb butter

My main: 8oz sirloin with peppercorn gravy

The tapas place and restaurant (they're next door each other) are both excellent, really nice spanish food.

I'm meant to be going to 'Smith and Western' tonight, I've got a sneaking suspicion I'm in for a tacky gash night in a knock off TGI-Fridays.
