Pretty sure you wouldn't be able to put more than £50 on a transfer bet in a bookies.
No one would have put a babel bet on this week seeming as Liverpool accepted an offer last week.
Betfairs your best bet to be honest.
I cleared out £50's worth of pots at 5/1 through to 2/1 on cesc not leaving last summer. Took an age to pay out, (only) won about £180.

Anyone fancy Nadal beating Federer in five sets?

Just got lucky on a over 2.5 bet in the barca game, 2 goals in the last 5 saved my skin

Received a text from a mate saying that Striking the Wind is a '…dead cert…' at Southwell today.
Just checked and it seems the bookies think similar - 6/5 on Betfair at the moment and evens elsewhere. Might be worth a tenner to see if you can double up.

Whats the deal with these free bets? From what i can gather you sign up, deposit say £25, bet it, and if it loses, then you get the £25 back in your bookies account.
If you win the bet. Can you withdraw the money straight away?

Ahh, so if you get the stake back, you basically have to bet it, to be able to receive any of it back?
Sweet. Well i'm pretty certain france will beat ireland at the weekend, so going to register to a fuck load of sites, and lay down the free bets.

Yeah, the free cash is just purely fantasy stake money. For example if you put the 25 quid fantasy cash on an evens bet you'll get the winnings back (in this case £25) and not the fantasy stake money which you'd usually get back if you were betting with your own cash.
It's certainly worth checking each individual site's small print though as some won't let you use the fantasy stake money until you've earned 'betting points' which relate to the amount of bets you place over a period of time.

The betfair offer is good, literally just refunds your first bet if it loses. (up to £25)

So even if you bet the fantasty stake and win more dough, you can never actually withdraw the stake, only the profit from it. So basically you have to bet it until you lose it?
9 Feb 2011 12:49
Most sites don't give you the stake back at all once you have gambled it once. EG, you get a £25 free bet and wager it on a 2/1 shot. If it loses, your returns are £0. If it wins, your returns are the £50 profit.

If that's the case, that's pretty good.
