there are some frames I'd love to order online but I could never buy a pair without trying them on first. I usually have to go back a couple of times before purchasing just to be certain.

For those of you that bought frames over the internet, where did you get lenses made and fitted? Is there some huge cost tagged onto to having the frames made and fitted in a pair of frames that you didn't buy in the same shop?

Is that 30 quid for the labour involved in the placement of the lenses?

Oh come on! It depends on your prescription, what coatings you go for, what type of lenses you want (the thinnest possible, or just standard), etc etc

30 quid will be for a fairly standard pair of lenses with a low prescription most probably. Just phone up Specsavers / Boots or whoever, tell them you have a frame you want lenses putting in, tell them your prescription and ask for a ballpark figure.

What do you mean by placement of the lenses not production?

Lenses are ground and cut to order for that particular customer's prescription, frame and specifications - you can't buy lenses off the shelf!

I think im making this more difficult that it needs to be.
What i was interested to know is if a local highstreet store would place extra charges on lenses in frames that they do not sell.

I bought the Shuron Sidewinders last week and got my lenses fitted in at Vision Express for £42.00. But your looking at around £30-£60 standard depending on where you go and the intensity of frames.

Yeah they do, about £90 all in for a pair to be shipped over here. Wonder if I can get them cheaper?

Bit of a weird suggestion, but if any one has those 'Topman Fasion Shades' that are relativly new, not the ones with the tall eye, they're relativly wayfarerish. I tried some on to gague how some Shurons would look on but would really appreciate some vertical and horizontal eye measurements and also a bridge measurement. Thanks.
