Can you ever get discounts on Moscot anywhere?

I once saw some in a small shop's closing down sale but everywhere else is always RRP.

I got a discount by cheekily asking a local optician for one. 25% off, so pretty good.

I'm based in Edinburgh but seen a place down South was doing the model I was after for cheaper and I asked if the shop up here could match it.

Interesting.

@andy what are the margins on highish-end frames like Moscot?

Just checked my emails. Iris Opticians offered to do Moscot Pat with lenses for £295 compared to my local place which was £410. Pretty sure I ended up paying something like £330 after I asked for a discount.

Anybody interested in these frames? Both from Ace and Tate and in new condition, they retail at £98 selling each for £35 or both for £65

Can anyone recommend some makers with a similar feel and build quality to Dita? I need some new glasses and am not really keen on any of the newer Dita frames and don’t want to get any of the frames I’ve had previously

It depends what exactly you like (or don't like) about Dita. I can't really think of any brands that have that style at that quality level at that price.

You might look at these brands:

Götti
Ørgreen
Matsuda
Masunaga
Jacques Marie Mage
Eyevan
Tavat

What I like most is the build quality and how they feel substantial. Some other brands feel a bit flimsy in comparison. I’ve looked at jacques marie mage and was impressed with the quality

I suspected as much. You should probably be looking at Made in Japan then. All of those brands I've mentioned are, apart from Tavat's frames which are made in Italy (but still very good quality).

Andy - heard of this retailer before?

https://duosshop.co.uk/

Lost my readers a few weeks back and looking for Mykita Mylon Iota as a replacement, they look about half the UK price!??

I don't remember hearing about them before but they seem to have physical shops (in the Czech Republic and Austria) and for what it's worth several sales people I know follow their Instagram account.

I can ask one of them if you want.

Can anyone ID which glasses these are:

I saw somewhere they were Chrome Hearts but haven’t had much luck finding them…

Good quality, good company. If you didn't already know it's one of the founders of Oliver Peoples (Larry Leight) and his son (Garrett Leight).

I'm not convinced that they're Chrome Hearts but I'm not sure what they are. One of my clients, Pewpols, has a similar style (minus the metal detail at the bridge) but it's currently out of stock.

Hakusan Megane might be worth a look, not sure there are UK stockists at the mo though. Native Sons aren't on same level but are more often on sale.
