Do these prices seem reasonable? http://www.americangolf.co.uk/Brands/Nike-Sets-of-Irons/b1414/sc4773.aspx

Seem pretty good but im not up to date on current models, big savings according to retailer. Cavity backs are the way to go, avoid blades.

American golf are ok - got my last set from them, although som staff are just shop workers. Your local club shop is a better bet, advice etc but sometimes not as cheap. However they can normally tailor a set with some pre owned, and you can test them all out on a driving range.

Defo do lessons though.

Go for Mizuno for irons. Great crafting and engineering and amazingly forgiving for bad shots and rewarding for good shots. These are a great beginning set http://www.direct-golf.co.uk/golf_irons/mizuno/mx-100_irons_golf_irons/p8499

The best thing to do is go and speak to your local pro and try a few different clubs on his recommendation. A fair few will match online prices etc. I don't particularly like the current crop of Nike clubs but I suppose that doesn't help you much.

dont go for really expensive/pro clubs mate, it'll only hinder you. get a beginner set - they'll make you play better

Laughing out loud You idiot. You'll look even more like a mong with nice clubs, playing like a flappy handed spastic, than you will with a beginner set. And it will take you way more than two months to get reasonable to consider buying a new set. Plus i guarentee you'll stop playing after a couple of months as this is just a fad for you

shot 82 today, pretty chuffed, first time ive played in ages, prob 4 times in 3 years or something. The lay off got rid of the nerves/tension ! Missed a couple of easy birdy putts too.

Evil always seem to have 2-4 holes that wreck my card.

can have 9 or 10 pars, a couple of birdies and 3 treble bogies on my card.

near always caused by missing fairway off tee. at our course, if you miss the fairway you prob won't find your ball.

McIlroy is making a mockery of the US open. Heading into the 4th round 8 shots ahead at 14 under.

He shot a 6 under on the second round, which includes a double bogey on the last hole.

Kid is in crazy form. Even if he drops a few shots today, he'll still win it surely?

Westwood had a cracking 3rd round with 6 under to finish on 2 under and still in the mix for a top 3. Rest of the UK's efforts have been poor.

I think a lot of depends on how the course is set today. Either way, hope McIlroy wins even though he's a bit of a miserable cunt.

what a start, should win by a cricket score and forget the cock up at the masters after that.

anyone put any bets on for the Open? i really fancy Westwood (no homo) but there's no value there. So i plumped for:

Kaymer (25-1)
Mcdowell (35-1) and
Ooustheizen (100-1)

all £5 EW (top 6 finish)
