Great start by rose with that birdie. Spieth matches it though. What an epic this is gonna be.

Got my first 18 holes this weekend and the course has a dress code - any brands or advice on headgear/tops etc. or brands outside the norm. Seems most stuff is pretty leary to say the least!

Are you wanting to buy golf clothing to wear regularly? Or just stuff to get you by this once?

If the former, look at brands like Under Armour, Footjoy, Peak Performance, Galvin Green, J Lindeberg, Peter Millar, Greyson, Travis Mathew, Kjus….

Websites such as trendygolf.com and function18.com will have most of those.

If just to get you by for one round then a pair of chinos/tailored trousers/shorts from Next or similar will do, and a polo shirt.

If you want some shoes I can't reccommend these enough - https://www.function18.com/adidas-adicross-classic-leather-golf-shoes-f33779.html
Really comfy, and great price too. Not waterproof though so only really a fair weather shoe.

Surprised this thread didn't get a single bump over the weekend! Ryder Cup is one of my favourite weekends in the year, when it's on. Absolutely smashed the favourites too!

FML.

Tuned in at 6.30 expecting to watch full rounds forgetting that tee times had been brought forward so saw play on 17 and 18 only.

Fair play to TW but looks like FM gifted it to him a bit.

Think Fitzpatrick will win this one day.

I'm trying to learn how to play golf but I'm pretty shite, even after around 8 lessons. I have a bad slice with driver and can't actually hit the ball very far.

Quite enjoying the challenge of learning though. It's very technical

Leave the driver in the bag, concentrate on getting technique with your irons right first. A miss with a driver is a lot more punishing than a miss with an iron. And practice short game and putting, particularly pace control on the greens as this is where you can lose shots very quickly.
