in my round yesterday I thinned my first sandwedge shot straight through the 1st green into OOB but practising the day before i did not hit a single bad shot with it.

such a bad feeling when you do that!

played again today, and had a blinder despite 2 8s(lost 2 balls on both) and a 7.

i hit 83, meaning my handicap of 22 was well beaten.

started the back 9 with 5 straight pars, proper pleased, creamed every single drive with my 3 wood, i was driving further than my mate who plays of 15, with his driver

proper nice weather as well, top day

just got back, and its the best £18 i've ever spent i reckon.

before i had a pretty bad, but consistent hook, but after the pro telling me my stance and grip was completely wrong, and showing me to do it correctly, i now hit fairly straight and also alot further without putting in huge amounts of effort.

cant recommend lessons enough, going to book them in 2 or 3 week intervals, feel so much more happy now

lessons 100% help, but then get down the range and start practicing, when your on the course you need to trust your body and ability and think "hit the ball to this target" and pick your target! not over there on the fairway, pick the flight and a tree or mark on the horizon.

Been playing really well latley, 24 handicap now, but playing to around 15 on non comp days. But letting it slip when the scorecard is in front of me. So reading golf head books at the moment! -> little bit at the top of this post. Laughing out loud

Anyone else watch it last night? Great Sunday evening TV.

I can imagine that playing golf is fun but it's got to be the most boring thing ever to watch on TV.

no way, woods was i think 7 shots off final day of the masters, watching him and phil make birdies and eagles to catch the leaders was great tv. If yo uplay it you appreciate the skill and talent, if you dont get golf at all then then year it would be boring as hell. Same as snooker i guess.

anybody played recently? had a couple of rounds but played really inconsistantly hitting two high 90's. In my last round i managed to hit 5 pars, but also 2 10's Sad

A player commented on the distance i am hitting with clubs, out of interest how far do you guys hit your 7 or 8 iron?? off the tea or off ground.

off the tea i was hitting just under 200 yards with my 8.

150yards with 7 iron off the grass, if I try to hit it any harder it goes the same distance to the left/right than it does straight Laughing out loud

I was up there for Thursday as well. Was in the 18th grandstand when Jimenez made the putt to go -6 at the end of the day. Was a really good day.

Played at La Cala resort in Spain last week on the Asia course and the America course. Both really high quality courses with some amazing features and both really punishing courses. Asia greens had just had some hollow-tining done to aerate them which slowed them down and made them bobble a bit but the America course was in pristeen condition.

Played level to my handicap on the Asia course, had quite a few chances for birdies which went astray, maybe on a different day with better condition greens they may have dropped.
On the America course I shot a very pleasing 6 under my handicap, starting with a 18 footer for birdie on the first. Don't think I've enjoyed playing a round so much in a long time, was a real pleasure.

Next big trip is to the Forest of Arden in a few weeks, which, any golf headz will know, is a brilliant championship-status course. Really looking forward to playing this, only ever spectated there once before for a European Tour event.
