I think a few times people in here have said they've used pronouns in bios and signatures at the request of people they know who are marginalised.

Nice to see our MP’s think fruit picking is a way to become a refugee - can this Tory government sink any lower?

This is absolute worst. At least it’s now even easier to spot people and avoid them.
Merci, I think the beef is because of statements like these
That is a bit unclear but I think what Best is saying is that he hates virtue signaling woke people, not that he wants to avoid trans people?
Which is the same point I am trying to make; that i have no issues with anyone who is trans, or whatever minority group within reason, my issue is the ghouls who wanna politicise every social, media, and cultural, space with white-knighting in-group symbols etc.

Although I see where you're coming from, I don't necessarily think it is productive to refer to a bandwagon when it comes to morally decent gestures. People should be encouraged to do good, even if their intentions aren't crystal.
LinkedIn is gross though.
Merci, kudos for you for actively helping. You are making a difference. The thing is, you're making a difference to one (or a group) of people. I'm as cynical as you about a lot of the social media stuff, but the pronouns stuff is about raising awareness amongst a much wider group. Plus it's easy to do.
It all comes down to motivation in the end. Are you attention seeking or just looking to help? I think most people here have said they're doing it for sincere reasons.

Mercibeau gives up his free time to go into failing comprehensives in Deptford, demands to know who there identifies as they/them and explains that all their problems can be fixed if they stick on the first Kasabian album, knock up a spag bol and get into a DVD of the 2005 Ashes

I have no issue with people doing their pronouns if that makes them happy, my issue is when people make the implication that people who don't do it are somehow transphobic - like its some kind of litmus; either you make this outward signal or you are bad, putting the focus on social media signalling above what you actually think or do in the real world that grinds my gears.
Funnily enough i worked on a large research project last year interviewing trans people and pronouns didn't come up at all really much at all (though these were only English, Russian, French, and Mexican Trans men and women, not americans so perhaps that is why?)

I don’t want the above to be construed as transphobic or anything phobic whatsoever. That comment was in reference to people jumping on the bandwagon of pronouns to prove how progressive they are to their network. It makes LinkedIn an even more insufferable hyperbole of nonsense.
I have a gender pronoun at work, my first name is Ashley and having the pronoun on the intranet / email signature etc has been quite useful to avoid incorrectly addressed references especially when working internationally.

I suspect that 'UK Immigration Minister says Ukrainians fleeing war may be asked to pick fruit to gain entry to UK' is such a bad look that it may not survive this weekend. https://t.co/WYOPmDo3Th

People putting pronouns on email signatures and LinkedIn status as well.
