basically i've got thick hair that just seems to grow outwards, i want a bit of a noel gallagher / mod hair cut but i obviously can't. any suggestions of products to relax my hair or whatever would be helpful, aslong as they won't balls my hair up…

Chinaski - to make hair less thick and frizzy, to give better manageability, especially when growing it out, there are a few options in the salon.
First of all, there's some relaxers like l'oreal professionnel's x-tenso and wella straight, which is like a reverse perm, makes it straighter instead of curlier, i'm sure other manufacturers do this too. Lasts about 2 months. Hair has to be fiarly decent condition tho.
Secondly, more and more salons are getting this brazilian keratin striaghtener which is a treatment that does the similar thing but it's meant to be less damaging and lasts up until your hair grows out to bushy unmanageable state again. One for the girls i think as it's generally done on long hair and is quite expensive. And you can only use sulphate free shampoo. Advantages are that it works on coloured and damaged hair, the more fucked the condition is the better apparently…
also, make sure your hair is cut properly to take out the bulk
MLI - Kerastase Ciment Thermique, great product.
6thEdition - Goldwell Lagoom Jam Gel, best gel in the industry, doesn't flake, wet look, superb hold, becareful of imitations on the internet. RRP £8.40
Aitch - Plenty out there, KMS Moulding Paste or Clay Creme, Bumble & Bumble Sumotech, Sebastian Crude Clay. Depends on hair type and your preference of hold strength and shine levels.
MCR-ben - Kerastase Nutritive Densitive pills have had good reviews, also Nioxin are a brand that specialises in hairloss, it must work cos they are still in business…
and also there is a spray by Goldwell's Inner Effect HairActive Spray which is tricologist approved.

If anyone is looking for a product with a nice matt effect I can recommend the chalk matt powder from Lakme.
Just received it and I think it's great. Best matt effect I ever received from such a product.
Anyone got any experience with it and can tell me how long the box lasted? cause it looks really small and only 10g.

dunno never used fudge but I tried a lot of other products.
It's different than fudge or american crew fiber cause it's not a paste or a gel, it really is a powder you just sprinkle on your hair and style through with your hands. Absorbs oil and texturizes the hair really well.
Pretty expenisve though and very small box.

might try that relaxer thing, i also have thick bushy hair. but when its long like when i had it 5 years ago its wavy.

I use fudge matte hed. Despite the awful spelling and general branding its a good product, have previously used American Crew Fibre, American Crew defining Paste, Bumble & Bumble Sumotech etc
Good 'bang for buck' compared to the others, but I have very short hair (1 grade sides short on top) so may not suit longer styles.

This has definitely been asked before but it's effort to trawl through this thread, so I'll just ask it again.
I'm after a decent wax / clay / whatever for medium / short hair with decent hold and a matte finish. I'm using a Fudge product at the moment but if you use a tiny bit too much and pull your jumper over you head too many times, the shit starts making it look like I've got hardcore dandruff, so I want something I can rework easily without flaking and stuff.
Anyone used that Gatsby Moving Rubber wax? Is it any good?

copped some tigi bedhead matte separation workable wax the other day, would be ideal for what you described heath.

I have got my hair styled pretty similar to Schtoop's up there - shaved on the back and sides, longer and swept across on top. The problem is my hair is really thick and has a natural curl/ wave/ wiryness which means it's a nightmare to style/ hold even after straightening.
I use a combination of VO5 DirtyClean wax which makes it sticky enough to style without instantly curling and then a spray gel to give it some hold. The wetness of the spray gel gives it a curl back though which is unavoidable if I want the hold.
I like the hold of gel but the wetness gives my hair an instant curl even after straightening. Likewise even if I style my hair so it looks cool, within half an hour of being in a pub/ club/ anywhere slightly hot/ humid the straightness is gone and my intricately styled and straightened fringe has curled back into a Simon Amstel style fail.
Im after something that would let me style my hair so it stays like that pic Schtoop posted but give it a really firm hold that wouldn't revert to curls/ waves. Something matt preferably although this is the lowest priority.
Looks like that Keratin Straightening Treatment is available on EBay - is it worth me trying this at home? Also it seems like that dust stuff might be a good option for me? Any other sagely advice for someone cursed with a thick curly barnett.
