Anyone bought any RaiBlocks? Had a pretty epic rise from a few cents to $17 right now… available on bitgrail which is a pretty straightforward exchange

My current portfolio; I expect to be holding these coins for the long-term. I'm currently dumping fiat into ICX.

Stellar Lumens (XLM): 50%
Request Network (REQ): 42%
Icon (ICX): 8%

My mate was trading ripple, I told him to buy but he was using markets.com bought at various amounts roughly at 0.21 and had almost 5k in it. Got an email saying they were changing crypto currency's so you can only hold them for a week at a time and they were closing his on the 10th of December. He never agreed to this and I can't see anything on there site saying they can change the terms after all he held it for almost 3-4 months before. Is there anything he can do or is this just very unlucky?

That’s why you use a wallet. If your coins are on an exchange you don’t own them

As I said I explained this to him about trading but he didn't listen.

Would anyone look in to this if he tried to complain such as the fca? Its hard to find t&c on there website if they can just change the rules on trading which is commission based as the overall fee was quite large aswell. It's a lot of money so it's hard to just ignore.

That's the whole point of cryptocurrency is that it's decentralised and isn't governed by anyone.

Why didn't your friend take heed of their notice and at least move it to another exchange or a hot/cold wallet?

Only invest what you can afford to lose, and to reiterate Jordan's point and many before him in this thread:

Because it's a trading platform, essentially just gambling. The problem isn't that crypto currency isn't regulated by anyone but the way a company who offers trades can choose when and how to change your trades. This happened to be xrp but could of been oil or gas. When you originally buy and have been trading for months you don't expect to get an email saying the are changing the terms and they will automatically stop and close them in 7 days.

As I say i told him to buy a wallet rather than trade but he wanted the quickest laziest option and this was it. His original plan was to keep it for 2 years regardless of the price but now this can't be done.

I know if your going to put that kind of money into something make sure what you know what your doing, but at the same time what this company done was change there terms without enough notice.

It's only because it's would be so much money I said it might be worth complaining but knowing how to go about it and who too is the problem.

You won't be able to complain to anyone, certainly not the FCA (you don't complain to them even if it's a regulated investment firm - you contact the FOS).

Your mate is using an unregulated website to buy an unregulated investment. By using that website he is accepting any risk associated with that. He'll have to chalk this one down to experience.

bitgrail is a bit of a spazzy exchange. people arent getting verified and cant withdraw. when XRB goes onto binance it could well fall as people want to cash out their extraordinary gains

I bought some at 4 dollar, sold at 16 and bought more ripple.

I didn't have any issue signing up to bitgrail - in fact their exchange is quite nice in my opinion. Was straightforward to deposit and withdraw crypto on there.

for ripple i used kraken. but it's shite.
buy the coins and get them off there asap - their website is constantly timing out for me, shocking tbh considering you're talking substantial amounts of money

I'm not buying ripple, but Binance is by far the best crypto to crypto exchange. XRB will be on it very soon too
