I've got my graduation ball and the actual ceremony coming up soon, and I've only got one suit so I want to buy another one so I can wear a different one to each.

I'm still on a bit of a student budget, especially as I've got to buy a couple of decent shirts, some ties and a new pair of shoes, so I'm looking at around 2 - 300 quid. I'm after a light-ish grey suit, where's the best place to pick up something on that budget?

Any suggestions for nice black shoes are also appreciated!

if you live in london, have a look downstairs in house of holland on hanover st (off regent st), it specialises in end of lines. it recently had a good selection of the new cut aquascutum suits for under £200. you will not get better vfm.
if you have time, get to bicester as there's tons of suit shops inc aquascutum.

ok so I got a paul smith suit a while back and the trousers were 28w. However after a fair few wears they seem to have stretched out to a 30w maybe and are uncomfortably loose. Dont really wanna wear a belt (suit looks better without) so is there any way to shrink the trousers without damaging them?

Trousers are 97% wool, 3% lycra btw and i have recently washed them just once on a cold wool cycle in the machine, otherwise have only been drycleaned.

lycra content is there to help the garment have a little give and to hold its shape better
Puzzled not sure it sounds like its given a little too much, may need dry cleaning possibly?
would ask your local dry cleaners or if you have a regular tailor ask them
as a last straw you could have it taken in on the seat of the trousers, shouldn't cost too much

Do your trousers have belt loops? I can't bring myself to wear a pair trousers without a belt if they have belt loops. Just looks wrong to me. tailored trousers are a different proposition obviously.

So i'm looking to get my first suit, have a sports jacket but need a suit for interviews and stuff like that.

What I think I need, don't want to spend a fortune, maybe £300 tops.
Wool - Navy or Charcoal - Single breasted - either 3 button or 2 button? I'm very thin - 6"2

Where to buy from?:
M&S, TM Lewin - or Bicester and try and scout out a deal on maybe an aquascutum.

Any help would be appreciated - cheers

Hi, does anyone know where I can buy nice 'vintagey' pocket squares from? I've got my heart set on getting a burnt orange paisley style one but cant seem to find any decent ones?

Any ideas?

I really like wearing light a light pink shirt with a suit but always end up wearing a darker pink tie with it. Any other colours that work, dependant on the suit obviously.

ruby, maroon, burgundy. some greens work (think Hermes) and blue.

it's all about tones though, rather than colours, so always best to lay up ties against shirts in a shop.

this site might provide some inspiration:

Going to a wedding on the weekend, been looking at some suits from next (on a tight budget). Looking at some of the 'slim fit' suits and I cant get along with the trousers at all, they just dont sit right…Im not sure if its because i've never really worn a suit and im sitting them at the wrong part of my waist or something but they hug the thigh very slimly and then flare out at the bottom??? Am i wearing the wrong size or what? any advice would be appreciated

Edit: Not just a Next thing because I've tried on suits in topman and h&m with the same result

I doubt there is an actual flare below the knee, most probably they are a dead straight cut and given that your calf muscles are probably smaller than your thigh they are giving the impression of a 'flare'
Sounds like you want tapered trousers to me/are used to wearing jeans with small hems.
