I was thinking a slim knitted tie in a dark red / burgundy? Lots of cheap ones on eBay. e.g.

So assuming knitted is acceptable, burgundy or dark green perhaps?

Might be a bit late but TK Maxx near me have got really lovely Ralph Lauren knitted ties, in a dark green/khaki colour, think they were £20.

Cheers, got a cheap one from Burton in the end but will have a look for them as I liked the slightly more casual appearance.

Buy a regular size tie and get it thinned down by a tailor?
Had this done before with wedding ties.

Try The Tie Bar - very decent quality for the money.

can anyone recommend where to get small/club/full cutaway collar white shirts, in dry cotton & slim fitting (for 14.5 neck and 36 chest, 6ft 1 so need long sleeves and body)

not too thin, and cheap enough i can live with them getting hospital stains

thanks

Mr Start do both a small cutaway and club collar, both are very narrow collars and its dry cotton too. Although not sure if £110 is too much if you are going to get stains on them. They do wash very well though. No 14.5 online but they can make them and might even carry them instore. Ring them up to check.

Definitely don't want to spend that much for shirts when working on wards.
I needed a white shirt for a wedding recently and of all places, got a very good slim fitting one from Next. Decent material, £22 and at the end of the night still looked presentable. Had it dry cleaned though so don't know about machine washing.

Are the Saville Row Inspired suits from M&S worth the money. Starting a new job in October changing careers from Air Conditioning/Refrigeration to Financial services, and I need to buy a new suit and shirts. Was looking at the above or maybe getting something from COS, just after any opinions.

Thinking of buying my shirts from Thomas Pink, or does anyone have any alternatives?

Thomas Pink not worth it - Charles Tyrwhitt or Lewin far better for the money. If you're not a porker, a couple each of these and these and you'll be set

Yeah, I'm so cool. I haven't been clean shaven in the last 9 years, if I turned round on the wedding day without the beard, she probably wouldn't have recognised me.

Just come from Aquascutum outlet in Hackney - got a mid grey, 2 btn suit with side adjusters at the waist for £220. Also a gabardine single breasted trench in navy £225. Quality seems to have returned also since latest buyout.
