^ this.

Invested in a black Hedi Dior suit as didn't want a formal 'dinner suit' was a big expense at the time but served me well for nearly a decade. Worn it at weddings ,funerals , dinners and black tie events full of idiots in their shitty moss bros suits.

Would still be wearing it now if the cleaner hadn't somehow binned the trousers a few months ago.

Slightly off topic but what would you interpret 'smartish' as on a garden party invitation?

can i wear burgundy derbys with a navy suit?

i usually need a little more length in the arms/back.
does it make sense to size up and get it tailored in the chest?
the difference in the chest is 3 cm.

Personally Id go Navy over black first as it will be more versatile, can wear with range of shoes/shirts whereas black you can only wear black. Black looks fucking great but its very one dimensional. I got a black mtm and it only gets worn for more formal occasions.

im in the same boat as shame, time has come i need to invest in a decent suit….. specifically i have to walk my sister down the isle. i don't wear a suit etc for work so it is only for more formal occasions but i want something versatile that covers most things except black tie etc

happy to spend around a grand all up so am i better buying something off the rack and getting it tailored to fit or going straight to a tailor/m2m off the bat?
wan't something slim fitting/stylish/contemporary

i like the look of grey (not charcoal) suits but is this a little too casual? next best would be navy
what sort of material should i be looking at?

to be fair i don't even know where to begin given theres so many options

Let us not forget that pops is three foot two and 90% of humans dont stay the same size all through their life. Got a right few trumpy suits but none of the cunts fit anymore.

Personally hate three buttons on a jacket/blazer, always go for two.

I had 3 DH suits from the Hedi era and thought they weren't up to much. The stitching was poor and bad on the wool coats also but think they're meant to be much better now albeit even more money.

This so much. There are so few 3 button jackets that actually look good.

Just the fashion at the moment, sure 3 buttons will be the in thing again soon enough.
I think some look good now anyway
