Anyone seen any nice white dinner jackets with peak lapels anywhere? Budget around £300-400.
Possibly the whole suit if available.

Collected my bespoke suit and a MTM shirt from Thom Sweeney, and I'm elated with the finished result.

I definitely recommend them to anyone who is in the market for a bespoke suit. The two guys who served me were Harry and Max, the latter was the cutter of my suit. Great service from the both of them, and as mentioned previously by a Fuker they were very flexible with the appointment dates and times for my fittings.

My only tip would be is to give yourself plenty of time if you're wanting the suit for a special occasion. They quote 12 weeks on their website, but it took me 14 weeks. The whole process consisted of a consultation, basted fit, forward fitting, second fitting and a final fitting.

I've a pair of the Uniqlo premium wool trousers. Good quality, have worn reasonable well, not particularly slim but would recommend.

Yep i've had 4 suits done at the london city shop. Aussie guy helped me, can't remember his name but he was really good and knew his stuff as well as listened to what i wanted.
Good selection in there but i'd imagine westfield would be bigger although not been.

Need a cheap new suit, will probably do suit supply. Did you get "m2m" MoB or just their off the rack?

Getting married next year and I'm in need of a suit. I'm totally clueless when it comes to suits - any reading recommendations? Or London stores for a novice to get advice?

Got a £1k budget, need it to be relatively lightweight as the wedding is in summer.

Not enough to go bespoke. Possibly not made-to-measure either. Others here will know better than me.

I would go to Trunk in Marylebone as a starting point. They have some very nice ready-to-wear. They have people from Caruso and Boglioli over to London periodically for MTM ordering, might be an option if you have time.

If you do go for RTW, take whatever you end up with to a reputable tailor for advice on possible tweaks.

They will be plenty of relevant articles on Permanent Style (suits for weddings, best value RTW/MTM etc.). Have a sift.

P Johnson Tailors have now opened a new store on 64 Dean Street.

Dependent on quality of materials then you could get a made to measure for around the £1k mark and would be good lightweight choice.

Got one from Westfield store this weekend. Off the rack on Saturday, altered overnight for pick-up on Tuesday. Great service.

Is it a no to wear chelsea's with a suit? I'm not a suit wearer thus the thought of buying shoes for very little occasions really pisses me off.

Chelseas with a suit can be ok. Depends what they are like really.

Caruso MTM is over £1k - about £1.5 last time I checked. Caruso RTW can fit well, depending on your body shape. If you are slim then it will suit, if not then it might be an issue as it is cut typically italian with a slim and short jacket. They have two RTW blocks, one short and one longer, but the UK places that sell it only seem to stock the shorter and the longer ones I have seen have been three button.

There should be a good few MTM options up to £1k that will get you something that fits better than 99% of the suits you see out there.

of course they can be worn with a suit, obviously needs to be a suit that 'suits' in style though.

I'm in the same boat getting married next October, leaving it for a while, how long does this a bespoke / MTM process take?

3 months or 6 months before the date ok?

For me fit is more important for this than quality of cloth especially if it is only likely to worn once due to the style / pattern for an art deco style theme.

Cant really see myself going somewhere decent and saying make it out of crap.

Depends on the tailor, mine quoted 12 weeks for bespoke (8 weeks for MTM), but in reality took 14 weeks. I would definitely give yourself as much time as possible.
